What a week, so far!

This new EU permanent residency card is driving me crazy. In the last 6 years, Joan has had to apply for three Polish residency  cards and after the first one, the other two were easy to do. All we had to do was update the information, submit the application and wait for approval. Rwquirements have changed now that only a EU permit is given. The first problem was with NFZ(national health) contract. Joan, being my wife, is covered under this policy but only my name is actually on the contract. Now we have to get a letter of declaration from NFZ that Joan is covered and it takes a week for that to happen. Another new twist is that she has to submit a CV(resume) as if she were looking for work, which she is not. Yet another new item is she has to write a statement of who she lives with and whether or not she has financial obligations to children or anyone else. Then, of course, there are the requirements to get statements from the tax office that she owes no taxes to Poland and also from District court that she has not committed any crimes in Poland. I was able to contact the court today by phone and they found the application received on the 11th but hadn't done anything with it. The young man I spoke with assured me he would mail it out tomorrow to us. We completed the brief CV and statement and emailed them to the official translator. As it turns out, the flat registration isn't necessary until after the decision on Joan's stay is made. Then, if we have the registration, they will put her address on her new card. If we don't then there will be no address on the card. Anna, from immigerations, advised to wait on that because if we register tomorrow it will only be a three month permit but when her permanent decision is accepted it will reflect that on the new card. We will wait.

Unfortunately all of these changes have had me going in all directions to get them done in time and I've had to cancel some of my normal conversations on Skype. Now I better understand what any immigrant must go through when going to a foreign country and can appreciate better what my great grandfather must have gone through in the beginning of his move to the U.S.

Ta nowa karta UE stałego pobytu doprowadza mnie do szału. W ciągu ostatnich 6 lat Joan aplikowała o trzy karty pobytu w Polsce, a po pierwszej, pozostałe dwie były łatwe do zrobienia. Wszystko, co musiałem zrobić, to zaktualizować informacje, złożyć wniosek i czekać na zatwierdzenie. Teraz wymagania zmieniły się, jedynie dawane jest zezwolenie UE. Pierwszy problem był z ubezpieczeniem w NFZ (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia). Joan, jako moja żona, jest objęta tym ubezpieczeniem, ale tylko moje nazwisko jest w rzeczywistości na umowie. Teraz musimy dostać list z potwierdzeniem z NFZ, że Joan jest ubezpieczona i to trwa tydzień. Kolejnym, nowym, zaskakującym wymogiem jest to, że musi złożyć CV, jakby poszukiwała pracy, ale tak nie jest. Następnym  nowym elementem jest to, że musi napisać oświadczenie,  z kim mieszka i czy nie ma zobowiązań finansowych wobec dzieci lub kogokolwiek innego. Potem, oczywiście, są wymogi, aby uzyskać oświadczenie z urzędu skarbowego, że nie zalega w  Polsce z podatkami, a także z Sądu Rejonowego, że nie popełniła żadnego przestępstwa w Polsce. Dzisiaj udało mi się skontaktować telefonicznie z sądem i okazało się, że otrzymali wniosek 11 br, ale niczego z nim nie zrobili. Młody człowiek, z którym  rozmawiałem zapewnił mnie, że jutro rano wyśle do nas mail. Zakończyliśmy krótkie CV oraz oświadczenie i wysłaliśmy je  pocztą elektroniczną do tłumacza przysięgłego. Jak się okazuje, zameldowanie w mieszkaniu nie jest konieczne aż do uzyskania decyzji w sprawie pobytu Joanny. Następnie, jeśli będziemy zameldowani, będą umieszczać adres na jej nowej karcie. Jeśli nie,  to nie będzie adresu na karcie. Anna, z biura imigracji, poradziła, abyśmy z meldunkiem poczekali, bo jeśli zameldujemy się jutro będzie tylko pozwolenie na trzy miesiące, ale kiedy decyzja nadejdzie  będzie ona uwidoczniona na nowej karcie. Będziemy czekać.

Niestety wszystkie te zmiany zmusiły mnie do działania w różnych kierunkach, aby załatwić wszystko na czas i musiałem anulować niektóre z moich normalnych rozmów na Skype. Teraz lepiej rozumiem przez co każdy imigrant musi przejść jadąc do obcego kraju, i lepiej docenić to, co mój pradziadek musiał przejść na początku swojej przeprowadzki do USA.
