Way past time.

It is way past time for a news channel to be like it used to be, The news, without any misinformation, propaganda, prejudiced either right or left, just the news of the day. I bring it up today because we have been watching a rerun of a TV series, "The Newsroom" starring Jeff Daniels, originally on HBO. If you haven't seen it, you should. It is a story about a newsroom whose boss thought it was time to start telling people the truth without worrying about ratings or advertisers.

It was like that when I was growing up with announcers like Walter Winchell, Edward R. Murrow, Diane Sawyer, Dan Rather, Chet Huntley, and David Brinkley. On a 13" television set in black and white, my mother use to watch as one of them told the news. The only agenda was, to tell the truth.

Now, these so-called news channels are more like public entertainment and ratings are all that matters. It is extremely hard to find a channel that isn't propagandized, misinformed, or leaning to the right or left.

This morning there was a sad moment as we lay in bed waking up. Joan asked me if she was going to get over her condition of not remembering and not walking.  I told her the truth. I said not totally but she could make it better by exercising every day and trying to walk. I didn't want to lie to her. The good thing is she probably won't remember it. How do you tell the person you love that she is slowly losing her ability to remember and someday she won't even remember her children, grandchildren, and me? I couldn't do that.

To jest czas przeszły dla kanału informacyjnego, aby być jak to było kiedyś, Wiadomości, bez żadnych dezinformacji, propagandy, uprzedzony albo w prawo lub w lewo, po prostu wiadomości z dnia. Przynoszę go dzisiaj, ponieważ byliśmy oglądania powtórki serialu "The Newsroom" z Jeffem Danielsem w roli głównej, pierwotnie na HBO. Jeśli go nie widziałeś, powinieneś. Jest to opowieść o newsroomie, którego szef myślał, że nadszedł czas, aby zacząć mówić ludziom prawdę, nie martwiąc się o oceny lub reklamodawców.

Tak było, kiedy dorastałem z takimi spikerami jak Walter Winchell, Edward R. Murrow, Diane Sawyer, Dan Rather, Chet Huntley i David Brinkley. Na 13" telewizor w czerni i bieli, moja matka używać do oglądania jak jeden z nich powiedział wiadomości. Jedyny porządek dzienny był, aby powiedzieć prawdę.

Teraz, te tak zwane kanały informacyjne są bardziej jak rozrywki publicznej i oceny są wszystko, co się liczy. Jest bardzo trudno znaleźć kanał, który nie jest propagandowo, źle poinformowani, lub przechylając się do prawej lub lewej.

Dziś rano, gdy leżałyśmy w łóżku, budząc się, nastąpił smutny moment. Joan zapytała mnie, czy uda jej się przezwyciężyć stan, w którym nie pamięta i nie chodzi.  Powiedziałem jej prawdę. Powiedziałam, że nie całkowicie, ale może to poprawić, ćwicząc codziennie i próbując chodzić. Nie chciałem jej okłamywać. Dobrą rzeczą jest to, że ona prawdopodobnie nie będzie tego pamiętać. Jak powiedzieć osobie, którą się kocha, że powoli traci zdolność zapamiętywania i pewnego dnia nie będzie pamiętała nawet swoich dzieci, wnuków i mnie? Nie mógłbym tego zrobić. 

Pierwsze oddziały amerykańskie wzmacniające sojuszników NATO we wschodniej Europie w obliczu rosyjskiej ekspansji wojskowej na granicy z Ukrainą przybyły dziś do bazy wojskowej w Rzeszowie w południowo-wschodniej Polsce.

Ya es hora de que un canal de noticias sea como antes, Las noticias, sin desinformación, propaganda, prejuicios de derecha o izquierda, solo las noticias del día. Lo traigo a colación hoy porque hemos estado viendo una reposición de una serie de televisión, "The Newsroom" protagonizada por Jeff Daniels, originalmente en HBO. Si no la has visto, deberías hacerlo. Es una historia sobre una sala de prensa cuyo jefe pensó que era hora de empezar a decir la verdad a la gente sin preocuparse por los índices de audiencia o los anunciantes.

Así era cuando yo crecía con locutores como Walter Winchell, Edward R. Murrow, Diane Sawyer, Dan Rather, Chet Huntley y David Brinkley. En un televisor de 13 pulgadas en blanco y negro, mi madre solía ver cómo uno de ellos contaba las noticias. El único objetivo era decir la verdad.

Ahora, estos llamados canales de noticias son más bien entretenimiento público y los índices de audiencia son lo único que importa. Es extremadamente difícil encontrar un canal que no esté propagandizado, desinformado o que se incline hacia la derecha o la izquierda.

Esta mañana hubo un momento triste mientras nos levantábamos en la cama. Joan me preguntó si iba a superar su condición de no recordar y no caminar.  Le dije la verdad. Le dije que no del todo, pero que podía mejorar haciendo ejercicio todos los días e intentando caminar. No quería mentirle. Lo bueno es que probablemente no lo recordará. ¿Cómo le dices a la persona que amas que está perdiendo lentamente su capacidad de recordar y que algún día ni siquiera se acordará de sus hijos, nietos y de mí? No podría hacerlo. 

Las primeras tropas estadounidenses que refuerzan a los aliados de la OTAN en el este de Europa, en medio de la concentración militar rusa en la frontera con Ucrania, han llegado hoy a la base militar de Rzeszow, en el sureste de Polonia.
