Sidewalks
I think I mentioned that the old sidewalks sometimes have tiles that are raised and out of the normal flat surface. Today, during a shortwalk and looking at houses and buildings, one of those tiles got it Joan's way and she fell, spraining her left ankle. I helped her home and put cold ice on it to keep the swelling down but it didn't stop it. She's unable to walk on it so we spent the rest of the day inside. I made lunch and dinner, went to the store and apteka and am taking care of her.

Sorry to hear that news. Yes, ice for 24 hours. After that soak in warm water at intervals. Here's why the change. After the injury one wants to keep fluids from collecting and try to keep the swelling down. After about 24 hours nothing more can be done for prevention. Warmth then helps to bring circulation to reduce fluid by products of the injury. Of course, keep the foot elevated as much as possible. That will help, too.
David, I'm wondering whether you should, or should not, leave Joan's Polish study books etc within reach...
Hope you are soon recovered Joan.
Yes, her Polish books are within reach of her. This afternoon I am taking her to see an orthopedic doctor to check this injury.
David,
I sorry about Joan, she is such a trooper. I hope she will recover quickly.
Please get the WODA BUROWA at apteka. It helps to keep swelling down. Moisten a towel or pack of gauze and put it on the swelling, cover and keep foot elevated.
Keep us posted how is she doing.
Best wishes to you both.
Those stupid tiles!!!!! Love, Heather
