Gasoline.

Finally had the chance to meet with Zbyszek today at Kandulski's and talk. I kind of went off the bland food diet and had an eclair and a cup of coffee. Joan had the same thing plus the manager gave us a container of Faworki(Chruschiki) because it has been some weeks since we have been there. It's no wonder it is one of our favorite places to meet. :-) Zbyszek is having his bathroom and hallway renovated for the last two weeks so we talked about the dust level in his flat and how much of a mess things were. It is suppose to be done by this Tuesday and he will be very happy at that time along with his wife. We talk about a lot of different things in our meetings and it's always good to listen to him plus he is usually asked questions about certain words in Polish we don't understand.

On the way home we stopped to buy gasoline for the car at the BP station so I thought you might be interested to see the prices we pay. The third price down on the list is the one we buy, PB95. It's 4.29zl per liter. 1 liter is equal to 0.26 gallons so roughly 4 liters make up a gallon of gasoline. 4 liters x 4.29zl equals 17.16zl. The current exchange rate is 1 zloty to 1 USD is 2.74.
17.16 divided by 2.74 equals $6.26 USD per gallon of gasoline. So even if you are paying $4 a gallon in the U.S. that is still cheap, unless I have made an error in my calculations. The BP stations are not the cheapest in town and you can find gasoline for 2.64zl at other company stations.

It was a nice day today, not too cold outside and sunny most of the day so it was good to be outside for awhile. We came home and did some cleaning, we are expecting guests tomorrow and so a clean up was in order.

Uprzejmy z wyruszyłem uprzejmą dietę żywności i miałem ekler i filiżankę kawy.

  1. Looks exactly like BP in Minnesota. BP is usually quite competitive. The cheapest place I find gas is a Holiday station near where I work. It's is always a bit less than BP or SuperAmerica! And right now the price is in the high $2.50s. Just depends on where one goes.

  2. David-
I remember when I brought my little car from the US to Poland and filled it up the first time. When I saw that the price had hit 150 zloty and was still running, I gulped and decided it was better not to look! Lately, we filled up the SUV for more than 300 zloty. Ouch!
