Since the announcement that Family Tree Maker is being discontinued at the end of this year, many people have written of their disappointment with the news. Now, Ancestry.com, the owner of FTM, has two agreements with Software McVie and Roots Magic to work with them and transition FTM into their care. I have only used FTM from the beginning of my research work in 2001 so I am unfamiliar with Roots Magic but in looking at it on the internet it seems to have a similar layout. Anyone with a current FTM version can purchase Roots Magic for $20 and check it out. I will do that in the near future in preparation of the changes coming. I still find it difficult to understand how the most popular genealogy research program, FTM, is being given up by Ancestry.com.

I finally finished redoing the photo albums that I have collected over the years. Previously I made a folder like, Poland 2015, and in this folder were folders of every picture taken on a certain day. The problem was they were put into alphabetical order according to the Month and Date so every sub-folder started with April. I have gone back through Poland 2003 and numbered each folder number 1 starting with the first photo's taken in that year. If there was a collection on January 5th or so, that was number 2. I used this logic with each collection so now every year is in order from January to December. It took a lot of time to rename the folders numerically but I am glad it is finished and I am happy with the result.
