Not good news.

Poland's government wants to control the country's internet traffic by establishing a "national operator" that would act as a proxy for private telecom companies. Similar measures are already in place in authoritarian regimes such as Russia or the Arab states.

Tested earlier this summer, the so-called "RuNet" showed that the government is now capable of isolating Russian internet users from the rest of the world. Putin's regime explains that it is meant to protect the country from "cyber-attacks" orchestrated by the West. What the Russian president means are the sanctions imposed on Russia for attacking Ukraine and human rights violations: part of those sanctions involve restricting Russian banks' access to global payment systems.

In practice, it means that in order to deliver the fastest 5G internet connection, all private telecom companies operating in Poland (Plus, T-Mobile, Orange, and Play) will have to use the "national operator" as a proxy. Without it, they will have no coverage. The state-owned operator will thus have the upper hand in controlling the type of data mobile network providers and their customers are sending, but also know the exact location of their devices.

Joan had her EEG exam done today. The place for the exam was in the northern part of Poznan at 16:00. It was during "rush hour" and it took us 1hour to get there, Normally, that drive would be 20 minutes. It was an easy examination for Joan, They just put something like a fishnet over her head that held many tiny electrodes. The clinician just sat and watched as the impulses in her brain were recorded. We will have the results on Friday to send to our neurologist.

Polski rząd chce kontrolować Internet w kraju poprzez ustanowienie "narodowego operatora", który miałby działać jako pełnomocnik prywatnych firm telekomunikacyjnych. Podobne rozwiązania funkcjonują już w autorytarnych reżimach, takich jak Rosja czy kraje arabskie. 

RuNet" pokazał, że rząd jest w stanie odizolować rosyjskich internautów od reszty świata. Reżim Putina tłumaczy, że ma to na celu ochronę kraju przed "cyberatakami" ze strony Zachodu. Rosyjski prezydent ma na myśli sankcje nałożone na Rosję za atak na Ukrainę i łamanie praw człowieka: częścią tych sankcji jest ograniczenie dostępu rosyjskich banków do globalnych systemów płatniczych. 

W praktyce oznacza to, że aby dostarczyć najszybszy internet 5G, wszystkie prywatne firmy telekomunikacyjne działające w Polsce (Plus, T-Mobile, Orange, Play) będą musiały korzystać z pośrednictwa "operatora narodowego". Bez niego nie będą miały zasięgu. Państwowy operator będzie więc miał przewagę w kontrolowaniu rodzaju danych, jakie wysyłają operatorzy sieci komórkowych i ich klienci, ale także będzie znał dokładną lokalizację ich urządzeń. 

Dzisiaj Joan miała badanie EEG. Miejsce badania znajdowało się w północnej części Poznania o godzinie 16:00. Było to w "godzinach szczytu" i dojazd zajął nam 1 godzinę, normalnie ten przejazd trwałby 20 minut. Badanie było dla Joan bardzo proste, po prostu założono jej na głowę coś w rodzaju siatki, w której umieszczono wiele maleńkich elektrod. Lekarz po prostu siedział i patrzył, jak następuje  rejestracja impulsów w jej mózgu. W piątek będziemy mieć wyniki, które wyślemy do naszego neurologa.

Probada a principios de este verano, la llamada "RuNet" demostró que el gobierno es capaz de aislar a los usuarios rusos de Internet del resto del mundo. El régimen de Putin explica que se trata de proteger al país de los "ciberataques" orquestados por Occidente. Lo que el presidente ruso quiere decir son las sanciones impuestas a Rusia por el ataque a Ucrania y las violaciones de los derechos humanos: parte de esas sanciones implican la restricción del acceso de los bancos rusos a los sistemas de pago mundiales.

En la práctica, significa que para ofrecer la conexión más rápida a Internet 5G, todas las empresas privadas de telecomunicaciones que operan en Polonia (Plus, T-Mobile, Orange y Play) tendrán que utilizar el "operador nacional" como proxy. Sin él, no tendrán cobertura. Así, el operador estatal tendrá la sartén por el mango para controlar el tipo de datos que envían los proveedores de redes móviles y sus clientes, pero también conocerá la ubicación exacta de sus dispositivos.

A Joan le han hecho hoy un examen de electroencefalograma. El lugar del examen era en la parte norte de Poznan a las 16:00 horas. Fue durante la "hora punta" y tardamos 1 hora en llegar, normalmente, ese trayecto sería de 20 minutos. Fue un examen fácil para Joan, simplemente le pusieron algo parecido a una red de pesca sobre la cabeza que contenía muchos electrodos diminutos. El médico se sentó y observó cómo se registraban los impulsos en su cerebro. Tendremos los resultados el viernes para enviárselos a nuestro neurólogo.
