Thanks to Anna Dan, here's the cheese-poppy seed cake you were looking for. It's called "Seromak na kruchym spodzie".
CHEESE – POPPY SEED CAKE
DOUGH
1 LB 1 OZ OF WHEAT FLOUR (ALL PURPOSE FLOUR)
7 OZ BUTTER
5 OZ OF SUGAR
1 EGG
1 TEASPOON OF BAKING POWDER
Mix flour with baking powder
Add cold butter and cut with knife into small uniform pieces
Add sugar and egg
Knead the dough
Crumble with your fingers into small uniform pieces
Place 2/3 of crumbled dough into 11 x 13 inches buttered pan
Save remaining 1/3 of dough for the top of the cake
Set aside
POPPY SEED SPREAD
14 OZ OF POPPY SEEDS
7 OZ OF SUGAR
1 ¾ OZ OF BUTTER
3 OZ OF POTATO FLOUR
2 EGGS SEPARATED
2.5 CUPS OF MILK
1 TABLE SPOON OF CINAMMON
ZEST FROM 2 LEMONS
½ TEASPOON OF ALMOND EXTRACT (OPTIONAL)
4 TABLESPOONS OF RAISINS (OPTIONAL)
4 TABLESPOONS OF ALMOND SLIVERS (OPTIONAL)
Make sure poppy seeds are clean and there are no impurities
Add just enough milk to make poppy seeds moist to grind
Using meat grinder fitted with special small hole screen grind poppy seeds at least 3 times
Add sugar, rest of milk and lemon zest and boil slowly for 10 minutes at lowest setting
Let the mixture cool down to room temperature
Add egg yolks, potato flour, cinnamon, raisins and almond
Beat egg whites into stiff peaks
Fold into poppy seeds spread
Place poppy seeds spread on top of dough
CHEESE SPREAD
28 OZ OF FARMERS CHEESE (DO NOT USE CREAM CHEESE)
9 OZ SUGAR
1.5 OZ OF POTATO FLOUR
4 TABLESPOON OF OIL
3 EGGS SEPARATED
JUICE FROM 2 LEMONS
Grind farmers cheese using meat grinder
Add oil, sugar, egg yolks, potato flour and lemon juice
Mix in the bowl until smooth
Beat egg whites into stiff peaks
Fold gently into cheese spread
Place cheese on the top of poppy seed spread
Top with remainder of crumbled dough
BAKE IN THE OVEN AT 350 º F FOR 1 HOUR
COOL DOWN AND STORE IN THE REFRIGIRATOR

Just a suggestion. Take a look, for sure. Is it one teaspoon or one tablespoon of baking poweder. The amoun to flour is average and I've never heard of adding more than 1-2 teaspoons to a baking product.

Yes Lori is right, it is 1 teaspoon of baking powder not the tablespoon.
You know how it is when you do translations, sometime things get away form you.

THANK YOU THANK YOU, I have spent over a week looking for this recipe. First I had to find out what it was called, and then I found many recipes in Polish but couldn't really understand them even when Google translates. This is wonderful.
