In the spirit of Christmas I thought I would change the colors of the blog for this month, that's why you see all the green and red.
We finally did it today and put together the Christmas tree. Yes, I know it's way to early to put it up according to Polish tradition but we have always done it early in the U.S. and don't want to change because we enjoy it so much before Christmas.
The artificial tree is much different here than in the U.S. There, we had a pole that you had to stick each branch into according to length of the branch but here the tree comes in two sections, top and bottom and all branches are already permanently fixed to it. Once you get it out of the box you just bend the branches down to make the shape of the tree. It's much easier that way to put it together.
As you can tell from Joan's face, she was very happy to bring the tree to life with lights(I had to buy one more string of 100 lights), ornaments and snowflakes. Of course, it looks the best at night with the lights on but it also looks good in daylight. We're happy with it.
Tonight Joan and I, with two friends, are going to a music concert of Anna Maria Jopek. She is a singer and considered to be the Polish version of Diana Krall so we have been looking forward to this evening. The concert starts at 8PM and we should be back home tonight by 11PM.
I took Joan to Stary Browar today to buy her one of her Christmas presents. It was something I could not buy by myself, a new purse, and I would have been totally lost trying to figure out which one she would like. We looked in about 6 stores before she found the one for her. I also bought Christmas cards and will send some to the U.S. but have no idea when they will arrive. Our last year in the U.S. some cards from Poland didn't arrive until February :-(

W końcu zrobiliśmy to dzisiaj i montujemy choinkę.
Raz dostajesz to z pudełka właśnie schylasz się gałęzie by zrobić kształt z drzewa. To jest dużo łatwiejszy w tamten sposób by montować to.
Dzisiaj wieczorem Joan i ja, z dwoma przyjaciółmi, idą do koncertu muzyki Anny Marii Jopek.
Wziąłem Joan do Stary Browar dzisiaj by kupić jej jedną z jej Bożego Narodzenia prezentów.

Well, everything is up to date in Poland (as well in Kansas City as the song goes). You have the same kind of tree we would have been buying here for the past 10 years or so!
Hi...
Good job, Joan, your tree looks beautiful! I agree with David ..
the tree always does look better with the lights on--at night is when I enjoy mine most!! Haven't got mine up yet. Just starting to decorate--got my wreath out of the pole building yesterday---in the sleet!!! ENJOY your tree!!!
Hope the concert was good.
Hugs, Marilyn
