Warta River

I was reading today about the further development of the Warta River in Poznań between 2014-2030.  It seems as though the entire portion of the river running through Poznań will be developed for kayaking, business, residence and recreation.  It's an ambitious project but at least now the Warta is being recognized for it's value to the community at large.  The third pilot project on the northern part of the area surrounded by the arms of the Warta River. This part of the town consists mainly of abandoned industrial areas. Due to its location within the city center and in the middle of the "green cross", North Island has a high chance to develop in the direction of an attractive urban area, a new part of the city of Poznan intended place of residence, work and leisure on the dynamic background of the river. Created "green river" to help in the creation of several islands. Every day the river are natural green zone separating the different parts of the North Island, and in the case of high water levels, they are filled with water from the Warta. This creates the possibility of additional leads and increases the capacity retention, which in turn will increase flood safety. Each newly created island has its own character and style. The island closest to the city center are the most urbanized and have different functions, while those located further away from the center of residential and perform functions in harmony with the river Warta.

 Joan and I always liked canoeing on rivers when we lived in the U.S. and were surprised to see the Warta vacant of canoes or kayaks in the years we have lived here. Maybe we'll take up kayaking.

The snow returned today with about 3" but now it's melting again.  That's good because I won't have to shovel it from in front of our garage. Future weather forescasts say Spring will be early but I'll have to see it to believe it.

Wydaje się, że większa częśćrzeki przepływającej przezPoznań zostanie przygotowana pod rozwójkajakarstwa, biznesu, mieszkalnictwai wypoczynku. To ambitny projekt, ale przynajmniej teraz uznaje się, że Warta stanowi wartość dla społeczeństwa.

W ten sposób powstaje możliwośćdodatkowego jej odprowadzenia oraz zwiększenia zdolności retencyjnej, co z kolei wpłynie na zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa przeciwpowodziowego. Każda nowo utworzona wyspa posiada własny charakter i styl. Joan i ja zawsze lubiliśmy pływać kajakiempo rzekach, kiedy mieszkaliśmy wUSA i byliśmy zaskoczeni nie widząc na Warcieżadnych kajaków od czasu, kiedy tu mieszkamy. Może zajmiemy się spływami kajakowymi.

Śnieg dzisiaj powrócił przy około 3", ale ponownie stopniał.To dobrze, bo nie będę go musiał odgarniać łopatą sprzed naszego garażu.Prognozy pogody przewidują, że wiosnabędzie wcześnie, alemuszę zobaczyć, aby w to uwierzyć.
