While we were waiting a young student was at the piano and played until the beginning. The show was in three parts, first were different musical acts, then the auction and then more music. The event was called the American Dream but maybe should have been named American Music because all of the acts performed different music from groups or singers from America. We heard the music of John Denver, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, The Blues Brother, The Back Street Boys, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin and the Impressions. What the performers lacked in talent they made up in enthusiasm for what they performed.
The auction, itself, raised 8,200 zl to help the former student who's husband had died leaving behind his wife and three children. Not surprising, among the artwork of paintings, sculptures, graphics and jewelry, the thing that raised the most money was an autographed soccer ball by Renaldo the sold for 2,100 zl. That is one expensive socceer ball.
The whole event lasted about two hours and afterward we met Ola again and told her we were happy to have attended. All the young students were really great to meet and see.
Wyszliśmy na imprezę charytatywną o 5:00 po południu i dotarliśmy tam o 5:30. Po zostawieniu naszych kurtek w szatni, moja młoda przyjaciółka z tej szkoły Ola, przywitała nas i zabrała nas do sali, gdzie wydarzenie miało miejsce. Znaleźliśmy dwa miejsca w 5. rzędzie po środku i usiedliśmy czekając na rozpoczęcie.
Podczas gdy czekaliśmy, młody student siedział przy fortepianie i grał do momentu rozpoczęcia. Przedstawienie składało się z trzech części, najpierw były różne utwory muzyczne, potem aukcja, a następnie ponownie muzyka. Impreza nazywała się American Dream, ale może powinna zostać nazwana American Music, ponieważ wszystkie wykonywane utwory pochodziły z twórczości grup i śpiewaków z Ameryki. Usłyszeliśmy muzykę John Denver, The Eagles, Michaela Jacksona, The Blues Brothers, The Back Street Boys, Franka Sinatry, Arethy Franklin i Impression. Jeżeli wykonawcom brakowało talentu, to nadrabiali entuzjazmem w wykonaniu.
Sama aukcja przyniosła 8.200 zł na pomoc dla byłej studentki, który mąż zmarł pozostawiając ją z trójką dzieci. Nie było też nic dziwnego, że wśród reprodukcji malarstwa, rzeźby, grafiki i biżuterii, rzeczą, która uzyskała najwięcej pieniędzy była piłka z autografem Renaldo sprzedana za 2.100 zł. To jest droga piłka do gry w nogę.
Cała impreza trwała około dwóch godzin, a potem znowu spotkaliśmy Olę i powiedzieliśmy jej, że byliśmy szczęśliwi, że mogliśmy wziąć udział. Wszyscy młodzi studenci byli naprawdę wspaniali, warto ich było ich spotkać i zobaczyć.
