 I don't know if you can call it stress but whatever it is, I feel it. In past elections, there was never so much at stake. It's not just about selecting a new President. For me, it's about saving the whole process of democracy based on morals, responsibility, truth, and doing what I feel is right for America. I feel no bones about voicing my opinion on Saturday only. I may have slipped a little this last week since voting began but I tried to stay away from politics. I am hoping this kind of Saturday blog will end soon because I am tired of writing them. Even though I chose to live in the land of my ancestors, I still care about the country. Joan, having children and grandchildren still living there, certainly is part of the reason.

Only once in my voting lifetime, have I voted for a President that I really believed in, JFK. Usually, it was voting for the lesser of 2 evils. In Poland, there are several parties to choose from. Although, there are really only two parties whoever wins, either PiS or PO. Yes, America does have an Independent party but only once did it ever have a chance to win. Also, in Poland, you don't have to be extremely rich to run for the Presidency. In America, it's a must situation.

Normally, you know who the new President will be the next day in America. Now it is five days since the election and we still don't know. The Electoral College doesn't vote on a President until December 14th. Even though one candidate wins the popular/majority of the votes, it is the EC that actually confirms who the President is. That was the case when the Gore/Bush election happened. Gore won the popular vote but gave the Presidency to Bush.

We've been going through each day normally with an occasional check to see how the election is going. Joan does her exercises, reads a little. rests, watches TV, and I do all the housework, study, sit with her off and on, and just care for her.

A late note. It's obvious now, after seeing the updated vote tallies in the 4 battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, Joe Biden is the new President-elect. Now the focus should be on 2 special elections, January 5th, where 2 Democrats are trying to win seats in the Senate. If they do, the Senate majority will be Democratic.

Nie wiem, czy można to nazwać stresem, ale cokolwiek to jest, czuję to. W poprzednich wyborach nigdy nie było tak wiele do stracenia. Nie chodzi tylko o wybór nowego prezesa. Dla mnie chodzi o ocalenie całego procesu demokracji opartego na moralności, odpowiedzialności, prawdzie i robieniu tego, co uważam za właściwe dla Ameryki. Nie mam ochoty wyrażać swojej opinii tylko w sobotę. Mogłem trochę poślizgnąć się w zeszłym tygodniu od rozpoczęcia głosowania, ale starałem się trzymać z dala od polityki. Mam nadzieję, że tego rodzaju sobotni blog wkrótce się skończy, ponieważ jestem zmęczony ich pisaniem. Mimo że wybrałem ziemię moich przodków, nadal zależy mi na tym kraju. Joan, że nadal tam mieszkają dzieci i wnuki, z pewnością jest po części przyczyną.

Tylko raz w życiu głosowałem na prezydenta, w którego naprawdę wierzyłem, JFK. Zwykle głosowano na mniejsze zło. W Polsce do wyboru jest kilka imprez. Chociaż tak naprawdę są tylko dwie partie, które wygrywają, albo PiS, albo PO. Tak, Ameryka ma niezależną partię, ale tylko raz miała szansę wygrać. Również w Polsce nie trzeba być wyjątkowo bogatym, żeby kandydować na prezydenta. W Ameryce jest to sytuacja obowiązkowa.

Zwykle wiesz, kto następnego dnia zostanie prezydentem w Ameryce. Teraz mija pięć dni od wyborów, a wciąż nie wiemy. Kolegium Elektorów głosuje na prezydenta dopiero 14 grudnia. Chociaż jeden kandydat zdobywa popularność / większość głosów, to KE faktycznie potwierdza, kto jest Prezydentem. Tak było w przypadku wyborów Gore / Busha. Gore wygrał powszechne głosowanie, ale dał prezydenturę Bushowi.

Normalnie przechodziliśmy przez każdy dzień, od czasu do czasu sprawdzając, jak idą wybory. Joan robi swoje ćwiczenia, trochę czyta. odpoczywa, ogląda telewizję, a ja wykonuję wszystkie prace domowe, uczę się, siedzę z nią z przerwami i po prostu się nią opiekuję.

Teraz należy skupić się na 2 wyborach specjalnych, 5 stycznia, w których 2 Demokraci starają się o mandaty w Senacie. Jeśli tak, większość w Senacie będzie Demokratyczna.

No sé si se le puede llamar estrés, pero sea lo que sea, lo siento. En las pasadas elecciones, nunca hubo tanto en juego. No se trata solo de seleccionar un nuevo presidente.
