Measure!

Today we met the agent so we could get into our new flat and measure the rooms. The living room is 400 x 500(13x16ft)meters, the dining room is 480 x 332(16 x 10), the bedroom is is 265 x 510(9 x 16) and the hallway is 165 x 250. We also found a curtain rod for the bedroom drapes so we don't have to buy that. The hall way is big enough to hold a 210 meter wide coat closet so that will help. On the way to the car I took these pictures of the outside of our building. Our flat is on the top floor and a bonus we discovered is the NFZ clinic is at the bottom of our building by the Hipokratek sign. That's nice. A doctors office and a dentist in the same building.

  1. The room sizes are huge!!!

Love the curvy balconies - very Art Deco :-) And I notice you have a retractable awning, which reminds me of our place in Paris...
    Very cool!

All the best - hope you'll be happy there.

    Dear Joan and David,

Is your apartment with the big balcony on the top floor? If it is your have very good place, because from the look of the building the walls separating apartments on the left and right are most likely bearing walls, which means they will stronger and thicker than any other walls. Most likely you will not hear any noises from the sides and nothing from the top.
Since this looks like older building you may have stucco on the inside walls instead drywall, so David may need very fine stucco or cement drill bit to drills holes for the picture hangers unless you have special 3 M hangers. Yes it is nice to have a clinic in the same building, just walk downstairs and there you are in doctor's office or dentist.
    Good luck with your move.

Have fun on your trip, we all are looking to your blog from the trip.

    Best wishes

  3. Hi Anna,
Yes, we do have the top floor. I didn't thinj about the bearing walls but you are probably right.
I don't know what kind of walls we have yet for pictures.
We are also looking for to the trip. A week in Kraków will not be enough to see everything, I think. I bought a book about Kraków and Joan and I are quickly reading it and making a list of places we want to vist. Already we have 30 places so we will have to decide which are the most important for us.

  4. Hi Beata,
Yes, the room sizes are certainly much bigger than we have now. At the moment we are very satisfied with our decision to take this flat. The location of Strzeszyn is excellant for us, just outside of Poznań but still very close. 10 minutes and we can be in the Rynek.

    Joan and David,

When I looked closer at your balcony, I noticed that you do havce the holders for window boxes to plant flowers and maybe even some herbs in them, so you cna have your own small garden.
As for your trip to Krakow, please see the Wawel Castle and Cathedral, Rynek with Sukiennice and Mariacki church with the main altar, which is open to public every hour (at least it was before). You can visit Collegium Majus at Jagiellonian University, Barbakan plus museums and numerous resteurants, especially U Wierzynka.
Have a great trip and I know you will be going to Krakow many more times, you just can not help but you fall in love with that city.

    Best wishes and drive safetly.

  8. All I can do is notify blogger about that problem. I don't see any way I can fix it from my side.
