Feeling better.

Today arrived, we were both sad knowing we would be apart for the next 6 days but it had to be. I packed a small suitcase of everything I thought she might need, we had breakfast and at 11:00 we drove to Dakowski Dwor where she will stay. 

Arriving just before noon, we were met by the son of the owner and the caregiver and taken to Joan's room. On this awfully hot day, it was a great surprise to find out that the whole house is air-conditioned. The second surprise was Joan's room. I think in the "old days", it may have been a large room separated by parlor doors. Now it is just one very large room. You could put a dining room table for 12 people in the open space next to Joan's bed it's that big.

Another good thing is that in the room next to Joan is a Polish man who speaks some English. After I was finished signing the contract and returned to Joan's room, they had already taken her into that room.

The hardest part was leaving knowing she will basically be alone amongst the out seniors staying there. The language barrier will be the biggest problem but boredom will be the second. Not having me to talk with and caring for her will be hard, mentally, on her. I am more concerned about that than anything. 

Dzisiaj nadszedł dzień, kiedy oboje byliśmy smutni wiedząc, że będziemy osobno przez następne 6 dni, ale tak musiało być. Spakowałam małą walizkę ze wszystkim, co wydawało mi się, że może być jej potrzebne, zjedliśmy śniadanie i o 11:00 pojechaliśmy do Dakowskiego Dworu, gdzie będzie przebywać. 

Przyjechaliśmy tuż przed południem, spotkał nas syn właścicielki i opiekunka i zaprowadzili do pokoju Joan. W ten strasznie upalny dzień wielkim zaskoczeniem było to, że cały dom jest klimatyzowany. Drugą niespodzianką był pokój Joan. Myślę, że w "dawnych czasach" mógł to być duży pokój oddzielony drzwiami od salonu. Teraz jest to po prostu jeden bardzo duży pokój. Na otwartej przestrzeni obok łóżka Joan można by postawić stół dla 12 osób, jest tak duży.

Kolejną dobrą rzeczą jest to, że w pokoju obok Joan mieszka Polak, który mówi trochę po angielsku. Kiedy skończyłem podpisywać umowę i wróciłem do pokoju Joan, ona już tam była.

Najtrudniej było wyjechać wiedząc, że będzie w zasadzie sama wśród przebywających tam seniorów. Bariera językowa będzie największym problemem, ale nuda będzie drugim. Brak mojej osoby, by porozmawiać rozmowy i zatroszczyć się o nią będzie dla niej ciężkie psychicznie. Martwię się o to bardziej, niż o cokolwiek innego.

Hoy llegó, los dos estábamos tristes sabiendo que estaríamos separados los próximos 6 días pero tenía que ser así. Hice una pequeña maleta con todo lo que pensé que podría necesitar, desayunamos y a las 11:00 nos dirigimos a Dakowski Dwor donde se alojará. 

Al llegar justo antes del mediodía, nos recibieron el hijo del propietario y el cuidador y nos llevaron a la habitación de Joan. En este día tan caluroso, fue una gran sorpresa descubrir que toda la casa tiene aire acondicionado. La segunda sorpresa fue la habitación de Joan. Creo que en los "viejos tiempos", puede haber sido una gran habitación separada por puertas de salón. Ahora es una sola habitación muy grande. Se podría poner una mesa de comedor para 12 personas en el espacio abierto junto a la cama de Joan, es así de grande.

Otra cosa buena es que en la habitación de al lado de Joan hay un hombre polaco que habla algo de inglés. Cuando terminé de firmar el contrato y volví a la habitación de Joan, ya la habían llevado a esa habitación.

La parte más difícil fue dejarla sabiendo que básicamente estará sola entre las personas mayores que se alojan allí. La barrera del idioma será el mayor problema, pero el aburrimiento será el segundo. No tenerme para hablar y cuidarla será duro, mentalmente, para ella. Eso me preocupa más que nada.
