 I started my day at the hand surgeon's office to see what he could do about my fingers. Using a USG machine, we looked at the inside of my hand and it was incredible. I could see the tendons, muscles, "strings" attached to my fingers, and all the tissue that has grown up restricting my fingers. He said, giving my situation taking care of Joan, the best, for now, would be to make small incisions and cut the strings restricting movement. He didn't want to do a full surgery because I would be one-handed for 6-8 weeks. I can't have that. The recovery from the surgery will be 2-3 weeks. So, June 22nd at 8:00 I will undergo surgery in his clinic. Now, I have to find a place for Joan to stay for the first week of the operation.

It will be good weather for at least the next for days according to the weatherman. That is good news. Tomorrow I will take Joan outside to buy a pair of sunglasses and then, maybe, go to Empik's outside cafe for coffee and a chance for Joan to be out of the flat for a few hours. She must be tired of this place by now, I am.

Talking with our friend, Radek, today. we discussed our mutual bank, CitiHandlowy, and that by the end of the year, they plan to dissolve all retail accounts. That means we will have to find a new bank. For Joan and I, it means notifying Social Security in the U.S. to change our automatic deposits  Bureaucracy is the same in all countries and I just hope there isn't a problem in doing this. I should do it before the end of the year. Not looking forward to it.

I visited the new piekarnia/cukernia(bakery/sweet shop) and bought a very good dark bread. Joan and I both like it.

Powiedział, że biorąc pod uwagę moją sytuację opieki nad Joan, najlepszym rozwiązaniem na razie będzie zrobienie małych nacięć i przecięcie połączeń ograniczających ruch. Nie chciał robić pełnej operacji, bo byłbym jednoręczny przez 6-8 tygodni. Nie mogę sobie na to pozwolić. Rekonwalescencja po operacji będzie trwała 2-3 tygodnie. Tak więc 22 czerwca o godzinie 8:00 będę miał operację w jego klinice. Teraz muszę znaleźć dla Joan miejsce, w którym będzie mogła pozostać przez pierwszy tydzień po operacji.

Według prognozy pogody będzie dobra aura, przynajmniej przez najbliższe kilka dni. To dobra wiadomość. Jutro zabiorę Joan na zewnątrz, żeby kupić okulary przeciwsłoneczne, a potem, być może, pójdziemy do kawiarni Empik na kawę i dam Joan szansę, żeby wyszła na kilka godzin z mieszkania. Ona musi być już zmęczona tym miejscem; ja jestem.

Podczas dzisiejszej rozmowy z naszym przyjacielem Radkiem, rozmawialiśmy o naszym wspólnym banku, CitiHandlowym, i o tym, że do końca roku planują zlikwidować wszystkie konta indywidualne. To oznacza, że będziemy musieli znaleźć nowy bank. Dla Joan i dla mnie oznacza to powiadomienie Social Security w USA, aby zmienić nasze automatyczne wpłaty. Biurokracja jest taka sama we wszystkich krajach i mam tylko nadzieję, że nie będzie z tym problemu. Powinienem to zrobić przed końcem roku. Nie czekam na to z niecierpliwością.

Odwiedziłem nową piekarnię/cukiernię i kupiłem bardzo dobry ciemny chleb. Obojgu nam smakował.

Empecé el día en la consulta del cirujano de la mano para ver qué podía hacer con mis dedos. Usando una máquina USG, miramos el interior de mi mano y fue increíble. Pude ver los tendones, los músculos, las "cuerdas" unidas a mis dedos y todo el tejido que ha crecido restringiendo mis dedos. Dijo que, dada mi situación cuidando a Joan, lo mejor, por ahora, sería hacer pequeñas incisiones y cortar las cuerdas que restringen el movimiento. No quería hacer una cirugía completa porque estaría con una sola mano durante 6-8 semanas. No puedo tener eso. La recuperación de la cirugía será de 2-3 semanas. Hablando hoy con nuestro amigo Radek, hemos hablado de nuestro banco común, CitiHandlowy, y de que a finales de año tienen previsto disolver todas las cuentas minoristas. Eso significa que tendremos que buscar un nuevo banco. Para Joan y para mí, significa notificar a la Seguridad Social en EE.UU. para cambiar nuestros depósitos automáticos La burocracia es la misma en todos los países y sólo espero que no haya ningún problema para hacerlo. Debería hacerlo antes de fin de año. No tengo ganas de hacerlo.

He visitado la nueva piekarnia/cukernia(panadería/dulcería) y he comprado un pan negro muy bueno. A Joan y a mí nos gusta.
