Saving

 It is something I learned years ago when I was just starting to use a computer. Several times it crashed and the whole system had to be reinstalled. Finally, someone told me about how to save my work or pictures. It was a revelation at the time for me. With all of the programs I use for different things, it took me hours to get my PC back the way it was. Now I save everything on three different sources other than this laptop. With over 40,000 pictures saved, it would take forever to restore it.

We are now having złota jesień(golden autumn) in Poland. It is different for me because in the U.S there are many maple and oak trees whose leaves turn golden but we don't have them where I live. However, goldenrod and some other types of trees do turn a yellow shade of color so it is still nice. The weather plays a big part in this special time because it is warmer. Today we had 27C and the forecast for the next three days is about the same.

Later in the day, I received a phone call from a real estate agent who said he was sending me three offers of apartments to look at. Two of them were furnished but one was on the second floor and the other had a bathtub, not acceptable. The third one has what we need now, a shower, parking, and an elevator because it is on the fourth floor of a six-floor building. I am waiting to see it on Thursday. We viewed several pictures of it and Joan likes it especially because it has a walk-in shower. She won't have to step up to get into it. I can wheel her right in.

 Jest to coś, czego nauczyłem się wiele lat temu, kiedy dopiero zaczynałem używać komputera. Kilka razy się zawiesił i trzeba było przeinstalować cały system. W końcu ktoś powiedział mi o tym, jak zapisać moją pracę lub zdjęcia. To było dla mnie objawienie w tamtym czasie. Ze wszystkimi programami, których używam do różnych rzeczy, zajęło mi wiele godzin, aby mój komputer wrócił do poprzedniego stanu. Teraz zapisuję wszystko na trzech różnych źródłach poza tym laptopem. Z ponad 40,000 zapisanych zdjęć, przywrócenie ich zajęłoby wieczność.

Mamy teraz w Polsce złotą jesień. Dla mnie to coś innego, ponieważ w Stanach Zjednoczonych jest wiele klonów i dębów, których liście stają się złote, ale nie mamy ich tam, gdzie mieszkam. Jednakże, nawłoć i niektóre inne rodzaje drzew przybierają żółty odcień, więc nadal jest miło. Pogoda odgrywa dużą rolę w tym szczególnym czasie, ponieważ jest cieplej. Dzisiaj mieliśmy 27C i prognoza na następne trzy dni jest mniej więcej taka sama.

Później w ciągu dnia, otrzymałem telefon od agenta nieruchomości, który powiedział, że wysyła mi trzy oferty mieszkań do obejrzenia. Dwa z nich były umeblowane, ale jeden był na drugim piętrze, a drugi miał wannę, nie do przyjęcia. Trzecia ma to, czego teraz potrzebujemy, prysznic, parking i windę, bo jest na czwartym piętrze sześciopiętrowego budynku. Czekam, żeby zobaczyć go w czwartek. Obejrzeliśmy kilka zdjęć i Joan podoba się szczególnie dlatego, że ma prysznic typu walk-in. Nie będzie musiała wchodzić pod górę, żeby do niego wejść. Mogę ją tam wjechać na wózku.

 Es algo que aprendí hace años cuando empezaba a utilizar un ordenador. Varias veces se estropeó y hubo que reinstalar todo el sistema. Finalmente, alguien me habló de cómo guardar mi trabajo o mis fotos. En aquel momento fue una revelación para mí. Con todos los programas que utilizo para diferentes cosas, tardé horas en volver a dejar mi PC como estaba. Ahora lo guardo todo en tres fuentes diferentes aparte de este portátil. Con más de 40.000 fotos guardadas, tardaría una eternidad en restaurarlo.

Ahora estamos teniendo złota jesień (otoño dorado) en Polonia. Para mí es diferente porque en Estados Unidos hay muchos arces y robles cuyas hojas se vuelven doradas, pero donde yo vivo no los tenemos. Sin embargo, la vara de oro y algunos otros tipos de árboles adquieren un tono amarillo, por lo que sigue siendo bonito. El tiempo juega un papel importante en esta época tan especial porque hace más calor. Hoy hemos tenido 27ºC y la previsión para los próximos tres días es más o menos la misma.

Más tarde, recibí una llamada de un agente inmobiliario que me dijo que me iba a enviar tres ofertas de apartamentos para que los viera. Dos de ellos estaban amueblados, pero uno estaba en el segundo piso y el otro tenía una bañera, lo que no es aceptable. El tercero tiene lo que necesitamos ahora, una ducha, aparcamiento y un ascensor porque está en el cuarto piso de un edificio de seis plantas. Estoy esperando a verlo el jueves. Hemos visto varias fotos y a Joan le gusta especialmente porque tiene una ducha a ras de suelo. No tendrá que subir para entrar. Puedo llevarla en silla de ruedas.
