No sleep.

Unfortunately. I was awake early this morning. It was another rough night for Joan and I was up several times during the night. On the bright side, it gives me more "quiet time" while Joan is asleep now.

With the help of a friend, I was able to complete the letter of appeal on the decision of Joan's disability. The panel that gave the decision that Joan is only moderately disabled only made the decision from documents and did not see her physically. If they had, I feel the decision would have been at a higher level of disability and that is what I wrote in my letter today. I decided to take my appeal in person to the office where we applied and have them stamp my copy that they received it. Unfortunately, my neurologist did not reply to my request for an updated report on Joan's condition so I could not give that to the panel also. Today was the deadline for the appeal. Now, I will just wait to get the panel's answer to the appeal.

The new "babysitter" was supposed to come today for the first time. She speaks English and is a student at the university for physical education. However, just as she was to arrive she called, told me that 2 days ago she met with a friend, and this morning when she was on the bus her friend called to tell her that he had just tested positive for Covid-19. She didn't think she had it but didn't want to endanger us so we canceled our meeting/ She said she would take a test first and tell me the results.

I called Radek to tell him why I wouldn't be meeting at his house today but he said he would drive to our place instead. I was happy not to miss the meeting with him.

Niestety. Obudziłem się dziś wcześnie rano. To była kolejna ciężka noc dla Joan i kilka razy w ciągu nocy byłem na nogach. Z dobrej strony, daje mi to więcej "cichego czasu", gdy Joan śpi teraz. 

Z pomocą przyjaciela udało mi się wypełnić pismo odwoławcze w sprawie orzeczenia o Joan niepełnosprawności. Zespół, który wydał orzeczenie, że Joan jest niepełnosprawna w stopniu umiarkowanym, podjął decyzję tylko na podstawie dokumentów i nie widział jej fizycznie. Gdyby tak było, uważam, że orzeczenie byłoby na wyższym poziomie niepełnosprawności i to właśnie napisałam w moim dzisiejszym piśmie. Zdecydowałem się zawieźć moje odwołanie osobiście do biura, w którym złożyliśmy wniosek i kazałem im podstemplować moją kopię, że ją otrzymali. Niestety, mój neurolog nie odpowiedział na moją prośbę o zaktualizowany raport na temat stanu Joan, więc nie mogłem tego dołączyć do pisma. Dzisiaj był ostateczny termin składania odwołania. Teraz będę czekał na odpowiedź zespołu w tej sprawie. 

Nowa "opiekunka" miała przyjść dzisiaj po raz pierwszy. Mówi po angielsku i jest studentką uniwersytetu na kierunku wychowanie fizyczne. Jednak tuż przed przyjazdem zadzwoniła i powiedziała mi, że 2 dni temu spotkała się z koleżanką, a dziś rano, kiedy jechała autobusem, jej koleżanka zadzwoniła i powiedziała, że właśnie zrobiła test na Covid-19. Nie sądzi, że to ma, ale nie chciała nas narażać, więc odwołaliśmy nasze spotkanie. Powiedziała, że najpierw zrobi test i powie mi o wynikach. 

Zadzwoniłam do Radka, żeby powiedzieć mu, dlaczego nie spotkamy się dzisiaj u niego, ale on powiedział, że przyjedzie do nas. Byłem szczęśliwy, że nie straciłem spotkania z nim.

Desgraciadamente. Me he levantado temprano esta mañana. Fue otra noche dura para Joan y me levanté varias veces durante la noche. El lado bueno es que ahora me da más "tiempo de tranquilidad" mientras Joan duerme. 

Con la ayuda de un amigo, conseguí completar una carta de apelación para la determinación de la discapacidad de Joan. El equipo que dictaminó que Juana tiene una discapacidad moderada tomó su decisión basándose únicamente en documentos y no la vio físicamente. Si lo hubieran hecho, creo que la sentencia habría sido de mayor nivel de incapacidad y eso es lo que he escrito en mi carta de hoy. Decidí llevar mi recurso en persona a la oficina donde lo solicitamos y les hice sellar mi copia de que la habían recibido. Lamentablemente, mi neurólogo no respondió a mi solicitud de un informe actualizado sobre el estado de Joan, por lo que no pude incluirlo en la carta. Hoy era la fecha límite para el recurso. Ahora voy a esperar la respuesta del equipo al respecto. 

El nuevo "cuidador" iba a entrar hoy por primera vez. Habla inglés y es estudiante universitaria de educación física. Sin embargo, justo antes de llegar me llamó y me dijo que se había encontrado con una amiga hace 2 días y que esta mañana, cuando estaba en el autobús, su amiga la llamó y le dijo que acababa de hacerse una prueba de Covid-19. Ella no cree que lo tenga pero no quería exponernos, así que cancelamos la cita. Dijo que primero haría la prueba y me diría los resultados. 

Llamé a Radek para decirle por qué no nos reuníamos hoy en su casa, pero me dijo que vendría a la nuestra. Me alegré de no haber perdido el encuentro con él.
