Radek and I met today and spent most of the first hour discussing what is happening in Ukraine. He is of the opinion that the Russian people do not want war with Ukraine and that may be enough to stop it. I don't think Putin pays much attention to what the Russian people want. The only thing he respects is force and no one is showing it. The small number of troops that are being sent to the western border of Ukraine is insufficient to stop the Russian army and they will not enter Ukraine because it is not a NATO country.

We spent the second hour continuing our review of Spanish from the past year and talking some in Spanish also. Before we started, he prepared a breakfast of scrambled eggs, open-faced ham sandwiches, and tomatoes.

Radek i ja spotkaliśmy się dzisiaj i spędziliśmy większość pierwszej godziny na rozmowach o tym, co dzieje się na Ukrainie. On jest zdania, że naród rosyjski nie chce wojny z Ukrainą i to może wystarczyć, aby ją powstrzymać. Nie sądzę, aby Putin zwracał uwagę na to, czego chce naród rosyjski. Jedyną rzeczą, którą szanuje jest siła, ale nikt jej nie pokazuje. Niewielka liczba wojsk wysyłanych na zachodnią granicę Ukrainy jest niewystarczająca, aby powstrzymać rosyjską armię, a nie wejdą one na Ukrainę, ponieważ nie jest ona krajem NATO. 

Drugą godzinę spędziliśmy na  przeglądzie hiszpańskiego z ostatniego roku i rozmawialiśmy trochę po hiszpańsku. Zanim zaczęliśmy, Radek przygotował śniadanie składające się z jajecznicy, kanapek z szynką i pomidorów.

Él es de la opinión de que el pueblo ruso no quiere la guerra con Ucrania y eso puede ser suficiente para detenerla. No creo que Putin preste mucha atención a lo que quiere el pueblo ruso. Lo único que respeta es la fuerza y nadie lo está demostrando. El pequeño número de tropas que se están enviando a la frontera occidental de Ucrania es insuficiente para detener al ejército ruso y no entrarán en Ucrania porque no es un país de la OTAN.

Pasamos la segunda hora continuando nuestro repaso de español del año pasado y hablando algo en español también. Antes de empezar, preparó un desayuno de huevos revueltos, sándwiches de jamón abiertos y tomates.
