Tax man cometh.

 The U.S. government raised the Social Security payments to 5% starting this month. Our payment comes in between the 3rd and 5th of the month. I checked ours today and was surprised, unpleasantly. Why? Because I have been paying, monthly, on average, 450 PLN. When I looked at our statement the cost had more than doubled. I knew the tax laws have changed but I didn't know the extent of the robbery until now. 450 PLN seemed like a fair price but to double it is outrageous. Thinking maybe it could be a bank error, I will go to the bank tomorrow to check. My friend, Radek who worked for Citihandlowy said he doubted the bank had anything to do with the change.

The other bank problem was it is not accepting money transfers from the U.S. I have had this problem twice before so I need to find out why there is a problem with that since they won't accept a check.

I met with Radek and he told me about his trip to the south of Poland for the New Year. He found the little village he stayed in very interesting.

Rząd Stanów Zjednoczonych podniósł płatności Social Security do 5% zaczynając od tego miesiąca. Nasza wypłata przychodzi między 3 a 5 dniem miesiąca. Sprawdziłem dzisiaj i byłem niemile zaskoczony. Dlaczego? Bo płaciłem, co miesiąc, średnio 450 zł. Kiedy spojrzałem na nasze zestawienie, koszt wzrósł ponad dwukrotnie. Wiedziałem, że zmieniły się przepisy podatkowe, ale nie znałem skali rabunku, aż do teraz. 450 zł wydawało się uczciwą ceną, ale podwojenie jej jest oburzające. Myśląc, że to może być błąd banku, pójdę tam jutro, żeby to sprawdzić. Mój przyjaciel Radek, który pracował w Citi Handlowy powiedział, że wątpi, aby bank miał coś wspólnego z tą zmianą. 

Innym problem w banku było to, że nie przyjmuje on przelewów z USA. Miałem już tak dwukrotnie, więc muszę się dowiedzieć, dlaczego tak się dzieje.. 

Spotkałem się z Radkiem, który opowiedział mi o swojej podróży na południe Polski na Nowy Rok. Mała wioska, w której się zatrzymał, wydała mu się bardzo interesująca.

El gobierno estadounidense ha aumentado los pagos de la Seguridad Social al 5% a partir de este mes. Nuestro pago se realiza entre el 3 y el 5 de cada mes. Lo he comprobado hoy y me he llevado una desagradable sorpresa. ¿Por qué? Porque estaba pagando, cada mes, una media de 450 libras. Cuando miré nuestro extracto, el coste se había duplicado. Sabía que las normas fiscales habían cambiado, pero no conocía la magnitud del robo hasta ahora. 450 libras me pareció un precio justo, pero duplicarlo es una barbaridad. Pensando que puede ser un error del banco, iré mañana a comprobarlo. Mi amigo Radek, que trabajaba en Citi Handlowy, dijo que dudaba que el banco tuviera algo que ver con el cambio. 

Otro problema con el banco era que no aceptaba transferencias desde Estados Unidos. Ya me ha pasado dos veces, así que tengo que averiguar por qué ocurre esto. 

Me reuní con Radek, que me habló de su viaje al sur de Polonia para pasar el Año Nuevo. El pequeño pueblo donde se alojó le pareció muy interesante.
