At first, when we arrived, walking was slow to look at everything and everyone else walked so fast. OK, I know we're older so walking should be slower but now that winter is here we are walking just as fast as the others. The sidewalks are very different than in the U.S. In America, sidewalks are continuous long slabs of concrete, even, with little obstructions. In Poland, sidewalks are a maze of little pieces, all fitted together like and Escher painting. The problem is that some pieces move with the changing of the earth and sometimes, if you don't look where you step, it's easy to get tripped up. Joan and I have always held each others hand, ever since we first met some 33 years ago so we don't stumble. But if you don't watch where you walk, it's easy to trip. However, I like these patterns in the sidewalks. Winter makes it easy to walk fast but in the spring we will return to our slow pace again.Still, winter has no effect on the young children and their grandparents. Even now, in the cold, baby carriages and strollers are everywhere with the little kids bundled up in coats, hats and gloves. Rosy cheeks, big-little laughs, smiles and grandparents out walking their descendants.
Najpierw, kiedy przybyli艣my, chodzenie by艂o powolne by popatrze膰 na wszystko i wszystkie inni chodzi艂y tak szybko. W porz膮dku, wiem, 偶e jeste艣my starsze tak chodzenie powinno by膰 powolniejsze ale teraz gdy zima jest tutaj chodzimy w艂a艣nie tak szybko jak inni. Nawet teraz, w zimnu, w贸zki dzieci臋ce i spacerowicze s膮 wsz臋dzie z ma艂ymi dzie膰mi wi膮zanymi w p艂aszczach, kapeluszach i r臋kawiczkach.
