Wedding

In my constant search for new things to learn about Poland I came across a website of a Farming Museum in the town of Szreniawa. The Museum of Agriculture and Food Industry in Szreniawa is housed in an eclectic palace built in 1852-1853, and in thirteen pavilions constructed in 1964-1981 for exhibition purposes. The Museum has built on the traditions of the Warsaw Museum of Industry, Agriculture and Farming (1875-1939), which made valuable contributions to Polish science, economy and culture, and which was the first institution of its kind in Poland. The Szreniawa Museum opened in 1964. It was granted status of a national museum in 1975. One of the interesting events they hold is a traditional wedding from different parts of Poland. This year it was from Kraków. It's a real wedding, not staged, with a real bride and groom, Romana Przywecka i Michał Drzymalla. The public is invited to attend the celebration but the reception is held privately in a tent on the museums grounds.

We arrived about half an hour before the church service and walked around to look at the old farming equiptment. After the service ended at 1:30AM there was a procession to the place where the festivities took place. Several dance troupes came from Kraków in traditional dress. There were also vendors selling Krakówian made bread and other items. naturally, there was dancing and 3 different types of bands that played. The colors of the clothing were exceptional and the brides headdress exceptional. You can see the whole event in the slideshow.

Kolory odzieży były wyjątkowe i przybranie głowy panien młodych wyjątkowe. Możesz zobaczyć całe zdarzenie w pokazie slajdów.
