Siedlec Visit.

We woke up to a sunny day, the first in over a week so naturally, even with our coughs, we had to do something or go somewhere. We decided on visiting Siedlec and Gułtowy to see the palaces there.

We left at noon, took 92 east until we reached the Siedlec turnoff just past Kostrzyn. Heading south we soon reached Siedlec, found the palace we were looking for and took the pictures. It's a private residence so we couldn't get closer. From there we proceeded to Gułtowy, a short distance south.

Here we found the palace in renovation, the main road blocked but we were able to get close enough for a few pictures. Next to the old palace is a beautiful wooden church which we also took pictures of.

From there we had no specific direction to go so we just continued on the road south to Giecz. Here we were surprised to find a nice stone church, part of Szlak Romanski. Szlak Romanski is a "Romanesque Route" in Poland that stresses the millenary tradition of national, cultural and religious connections with the history of Poland "Romanesque Route" in Poland is almost throughout the country, including the scope of its most important monuments and places associated with the Piast monarchy. The route is divided into regional segments, which are created on the routes for car, bicycle and walking routes.

Leaving Giecz, we drove to Grodzisczko. According to the latest research the first permanent settlements on the territory was called Grodziszczko, and in its vicinity arose at the turn of the eighth and ninth centuries. The current state of archaeological research can only say that it was a fortress on wheels plan or ellipse with a radius of about 45 meters. In 1298 the church of St. John the Baptist was constructed.

Orzeszkowo was our next stop where we passed by another large house. A short distance from there, in Węgierskie we came across our last house pictures of the day. There were several cars parked in front of it and seems to be occupied by more than one family. It was not in good shape.

Zdecydowaliśmy na odwiedzaniu Siedlec i Gułtowy by zobaczyć pałace tam.

Wyruszyliśmy w południe, wzięliśmy 92 wschód aż osiągnęliśmy Siedlec turnoff właśnie przeszły Kostrzyn. Idące południe, którego wkrótce osiągnęliśmy Siedlec, znaleźliśmy pałac, którego szukaliśmy i wzięli obrazy.

Wyruszający Giecz, my popędziliśmy do Grodzisczko.

  1. On I got all excited thinking you had gone to Siedlce, but nothing seemed right. Now I know there is Siedlec and Siedlce in Poland.

  3. You are exactly right that Siedlce is too far for a day trip. We'll see each other in July when I'm in Poznan, but if you want to make it a couple of day trip, remember I'll be at Reymontowka for two weeks or perhaps even 4 weeks after I'm in Poznan. Take a couple of day trip, stay the Hotel Hetman in Siedlce and come out to Reymontowka. You will enjoy seeing this manor house in operation with 70-80 kids! Once there I'll find someone to tell you about the nearby museum manor house as well.

  4. That's a possibility. I do have cousins in Warsaw we could visit and a friend who lives in Tchórow-Kolonia, a village northeast of Siedlce.
