Bundt..

I wanted to try to make a bundt cake today but I didn't have the form for it. I went to Tesco(like Walmart) to try and buy one. It was my first time so it took me a few minutes to find the right aisle for such things. I looked over every shelf but didn't see the form. Then, I looked at the very top shelf where they usually store extra items and I found 1 form. I took it but it had no price barcode. At the checkout counter, the salesperson said to take it to the information booth. In the booth was a young man who took it and went off to find a price. He came back with a flat form and said it cost the same as that one. Back at the sales counter, she ran it up, 16.95 PLN($5).

Back at home, I mixed all the ingredients, put it into the form, and I had some left-over batter that I put into a bread pan to also bake. An hour later, the smaller pan was ready so I took it out, let it cool, and then put powdered sugar on top. I cut off the end piece to taste, liked it, and gave the whole remaining small cake to the neighbor.  Half an hour later the bundt cake was ready so I let it cool before putting on the powdered sugar. It was a success. So far, I have successfully made a lemon cake, a bundt cake, and a babka. Next, I have to find a more complicated cake to bake.

For dinner tonight, I made tuna melt sandwiches with cheddar cheese and tomato. Dessert, of course, was coffee and bundt cake.

Even with the covid-19 rules of mandatory masks and social distancing, 254 people died today and 8,772 new cases reported. A total of 42, 077 people have died from this virus. Vaccinations are going slowly because of the lack of vaccine that has not been delivered. Still no news on when Joan will get hers.

Chciałem dziś spróbować zrobić bundt cake, ale nie miałem formy do niego. Poszłem do Tesco (jak Walmart), żeby spróbować ją kupić. To był mój pierwszy raz, więc zajęło mi kilka minut, aby znaleźć właściwą alejkę dla takich rzeczy. Obejrzałem każdą półkę, ale nie widziałem formularza. Potem spojrzałem na najwyższą półkę, gdzie zwykle przechowują dodatkowe artykuły i znalazłem jeden formularz. Wziąłem go, ale nie miał kodu kreskowego z ceną. Przy kasie sprzedawca powiedział, żebym zaniósł go do stoiska informacyjnego. W budce był młody człowiek, który wziął go i poszedł znaleźć cenę. Wrócił z płaskim formularzem i powiedział, że kosztuje tyle samo, co ten. Po powrocie do kasy, ona podniosła cenę, 16,95 PLN (5$).

Po powrocie do domu, wymieszałem wszystkie składniki, włożyłem do formy i zostało mi trochę ciasta, które włożyłem do formy na chleb, aby również się upiekło. Godzinę później mniejsza forma była gotowa, więc wyjęłam ją, pozwoliłem ostygnąć, a następnie posypałam cukrem pudrem. Odcięłem końcówkę do smaku, smakowało mi, a cały pozostały mały placek dałem sąsiadce.  Pół godziny później bundt cake był gotowy, więc pozwoliłem mu ostygnąć przed posypaniem cukrem pudrem. To był sukces. Do tej pory udało mi się zrobić ciasto cytrynowe, bundt cake i babkę. Teraz muszę znaleźć bardziej skomplikowane ciasto do upieczenia.

Na kolację zrobiłem kanapki z tuńczykiem, serem cheddar i pomidorem. Deser, oczywiście, był kawą i ciastem bundt cake.

Nawet przy zachowaniu zasad Covid-19, czyli obowiązkowych masek i dystansu społecznego, zmarły dziś 254 osoby, a 8 772 nowych przypadków zostało zgłoszonych. Hoy quería intentar hacer un bundt cake pero no tenía la forma para ello. Fui a Tesco (como Walmart) para intentar comprar uno. Era mi primera vez así que me costó unos minutos encontrar el pasillo adecuado para estas cosas. Busqué en todos los estantes pero no vi el formulario. Entonces, miré en el estante superior, donde suelen guardar los artículos adicionales, y encontré un formulario. Lo cogí pero no tenía el código de barras del precio. En la caja, la vendedora me dijo que lo llevara al puesto de información. En la caseta había un joven que lo cogió y se fue a buscar el precio. Volvió con un formulario plano y dijo que costaba lo mismo que ese. De vuelta al mostrador de ventas, lo comprobó: 16,95 PLN (5 dólares).

De vuelta a casa, mezclé todos los ingredientes, los puse en el molde y me sobró un poco de masa que puse en un molde de pan para hornear también. Una hora después, el molde más pequeño estaba listo, así que lo saqué, lo dejé enfriar y le puse azúcar en polvo por encima. Corté el trozo final para probarlo, me gustó, y le di todo el pastel pequeño restante a la vecina.  Media hora después, el bundt cake estaba listo, así que lo dejé enfriar antes de ponerle el azúcar en polvo. Fue un éxito. Hasta ahora, he hecho con éxito un pastel de limón, un bundt cake y un babka. Ahora tengo que encontrar un pastel más complicado para hornear.

Para la cena de esta noche, hice sándwiches de atún derretido con queso cheddar y tomate. El postre, por supuesto, ha sido café y bundt cake.
