Kapusniak.

Holy cow, Batman, 3 days of sun, and blue skies.

I started early this morning to make my first attempt at Kapusniak soup. I peeled 3 carrots, 3 parsnips, 3 potatoes, and 1 onion. I put them into a large pot along with 1/2 kg. bacon, 1/2 kg.  of ribs. 4 basil leaves, seler (the root of celery), 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 liters of water. I let that cook for 2 hours while I boiled the potatoes in a salt-water pot. I drained all the ingredients in the large pot and set them aside. Next, I took all of the meat off of the ribs, diced the vegetables, put everything and the cabbage(Kapusta Kiszonej) back into the pot, added the drained liquid, the potatoes, and cooked until it was hot.  I washed the pot the neighbor brought to us yesterday filled with vegetable soup and refilled it with the kapusniak, I wanted Marek to taste it and tell me if it was any good.  He said it was good. If I didn't give some to him we would have had enough for 2-3 days.

Our second most favorite country to visit is Croatia. Of course, under the current circumstances of Joan's health, we have no plans for that. However, I just read that WizzAir is opening up a direct flight to Split, Croatia beginning this summer. Unfortunately, it departs from Wroclaw. This brings to mind the question of why are there so few flights departing from Poznan compared to Wroclaw?  Poznan is the 5th largest city in Poland with a population of 534,000 people. Wroclaw has 3 million yearly passengers, Poznan has 2.5 million.

Dziś rano zacząłem po raz pierwszy spróbować zupy Kapusniak. Obrałam 3 marchewki, 3 pasternaki, 3 ziemniaki i 1 cebulę. Włożyłem je do dużego garnka razem z 1/2 kg. boczek 1/2 kg. żeber. 4 liście bazylii, seler (korzeń selera), 1 łyżeczka soli i 2 litry wody. Gotowałem przez 2 godziny, podczas gdy ziemniaki gotowałem w garnku z soloną wodą. Odcedziłem wszystkie składniki z dużego garnka i odstawiłem na bok. Następnie wyjąłem całe mięso z żeber, pokroiłem w kostkę warzywa, włożyłem wszystko i kapustę (Kapusta Kiszonej) z powrotem do garnka, dodałem odcedzony płyn, ziemniaki i gotowałem do momentu, aż były gorące. Umyłem garnek, który sąsiad przyniósł nam wczoraj, wypełniony zupą jarzynową i napełniłem go kapusniakiem, chciałem, żeby Marek spróbował i powiedział mi, czy jest dobry. Powiedział, że to było dobre. Gdybym mu nie dał, wystarczyłoby na 2-3 dni.

Naszym drugim ulubionym krajem do odwiedzenia jest Chorwacja. Oczywiście w obecnych warunkach zdrowia Joanny nie mamy na to żadnych planów. Jednak właśnie przeczytałem, że WizzAir otwiera tego lata bezpośrednie loty do Splitu w Chorwacji. Niestety odjeżdża z Wrocławia. Nasuwa się tu pytanie, dlaczego z Poznania odlatuje tak mało lotów w porównaniu z Wrocławiem? Poznań to piąte co do wielkości miasto w Polsce, liczące 534 000 mieszkańców. Wrocław obsługuje 3 miliony pasażerów rocznie, Poznań 2,5 miliona.

Comencé temprano esta mañana para hacer mi primer intento con la sopa Kapusniak. Pele 3 zanahorias, 3 chirivías, 3 patatas y 1 cebolla. Los pongo en una olla grande junto con 1/2 kg. tocino, 1/2 kg. de costillas. 4 hojas de albahaca, seler (raíz de apio), 1 cucharadita de sal y 2 litros de agua. Dejé que se cocinara durante 2 horas mientras hervía las papas en una olla con agua salada. Escurrí todos los ingredientes en la olla grande y los reservé. Luego, quité toda la carne de las costillas, corté las verduras en cubitos, puse todo y el repollo (Kapusta Kiszonej) nuevamente en la olla, agregué el líquido escurrido, las papas y cocí hasta que estuvo caliente. Lavé la olla que ayer nos trajo el vecino llena de sopa de verduras y la volví a llenar con el kapusniak, quería que Marek la probara y me dijera si estaba bien. Dijo que estaba bien. Si no le hubiera dado un poco, habríamos tenido suficiente para 2-3 días.

Nuestro segundo país favorito para visitar es Croacia. Por supuesto, en las actuales circunstancias de salud de Joan, no tenemos planes para eso. Sin embargo, acabo de leer que WizzAir está abriendo un vuelo directo a Split, Croacia, a partir de este verano. Desafortunadamente, parte de Wroclaw. Esto nos trae a la mente la pregunta de por qué hay tan pocos vuelos que salen de Poznan en comparación con Wroclaw. Poznan es la quinta ciudad más grande de Polonia con una población de 534.000 personas. Wroclaw tiene 3 millones de pasajeros anuales, Poznan tiene 2,5 millones.
