Cousin Wioletta wrote that their new restaurant is still in progress and not ready to open yet. It is near Wodzicki Park, close to Sołacki Park. Maciej, her husband, works everyday preparing the place but it takes time to open a new restaurant. They had a successful restaurant, Bernadino's, and bar, The Blueberry Bar, on św. Marcin street in the center of Poznań but the building was bought by a new owner who turned it into a hotel so they had to find a new location. One problem with that location was finding a parking place. I think it will be better at the new location but it will take time to be known. They will have competition because close to them is the Milano restaurant, a good restaurant that has been there for many years. My hope is that they will be very successful in their new business adventure. They are both hard working people and deserve it.
Being inquisitive, my goals for the day were twofold: visit with cousin Maciej and see the progress he has made and then find the restaurant our friend Mirka would like to have dinner in when she visits with her husband, Dan, on July 4th.
I found Maciej with no problem because it is back in front of the parking lot of Milanos. He was there with another worker and was happy to show me what he had done. The building he bought is being completely changed and it will now have 14 rooms for rent after January of next year. In front of the building he is building the restaurant that he thinks will open in two months after the holidays. I told him Joan and I would be his first customers. I was very impressed with the work he has done. I remember the old building and what bad shape it was in. We talked for a while and I told him to call me if I could help in any way because we are cousins. He said, "No, you are my uncle". In the Polish culture, almost any older relative is an aunt or uncle. However, in genealogy terminology, he is really my second cousin. I didn't try to correct him, I just said that is even more reason to call me, if I am his uncle.
The second goal was not so easily met, in fact, wasn't. I searched the street where the restaurant was suppose to be but couldn't find it. I even parked the car, walked up and down the street but still to no avail. Back at home and looking at the Google map I realized the restaurant is ether inside a building or behind one. Tomorrow I will go back and find it, for sure. Check back tomorrow, Mirka.
