Surprised!

While I was exercising with Joan today, we had a nice surprise. Our friend, Joanna, stopped by with her tall son, Piotr. They brought us presents of chocolate, a Christmas CD, a Christmas cookie and their home-made Wiśniówka. They make an excellent cherry version of it from cherries on their trees in the backyard/ I had it a few years ago when my nephew Jeff and his wife visited us. They also really liked it. I've known them for over ten years now and they are part of our circle of friends.  Joanna is an ophthalmologist. Depending on the virus. her son will be going to England at the end of the month to start his second semester in university. Up to now, he has been attending classes online.

Something new for dinner, Hawaiin Chicken, boiled potatoes, and Kiwi salad. I had to marinate the chicken for 4 hours so I made the salad during that time. Joan liked the sample I gave her to try. It was a little sour tasting to me so I added a bit more honey to the sauce.

I read that the local government is going ahead with plans to renovate the old Rynek. The problem is the unevenness of the cobblestone flooring. It may start in the summertime. and I'm sure it will affect the businesses there. Of course, everything depends on coronavirus being under control by then.

Kiedy dzisiaj ćwiczyłem z Joan, mieliśmy miłą niespodziankę. Nasza przyjaciółka Joanna zatrzymała się ze swoim wysokim synem Piotrem. Przywieźli nam prezenty z czekolady, świąteczną płytę CD, świąteczne ciasteczko i ich domową Wiśniówkę. Robią doskonałą wersję wiśniową z wiśni rosnących na ich drzewach w ogródku. Miałem to kilka lat temu, kiedy odwiedził nas mój bratanek Jeff i jego żona. Oni też bardzo to lubili. Znam ich od ponad dziesięciu lat i są częścią naszego kręgu przyjaciół. Joanna jest okulistą. W zależności od wirusa. jej syn wyjeżdża do Anglii pod koniec miesiąca, aby rozpocząć drugi semestr na uniwersytecie. Do tej pory uczęszczał na zajęcia online.

Coś nowego na obiad, kurczak hawajski, gotowane ziemniaki i sałatka z kiwi. Kurczaka musiałem marynować przez 4 godziny, więc w tym czasie zrobiłem sałatkę. Joan spodobała się próbka, którą jej dałem. Dla mnie było trochę kwaśne, więc dodałem do sosu trochę więcej miodu.

Czytałem, że samorząd kontynuuje plany renowacji starego Rynku. Problemem są nierówności posadzki z kostki brukowej. Może zacząć się latem. i jestem pewien, że wpłynie to na tamtejsze firmy. Oczywiście wszystko zależy od tego, czy do tego czasu koronawirus będzie pod kontrolą.

Mientras hacía ejercicio con Joan hoy, tuvimos una agradable sorpresa. Nuestra amiga, Joanna, se detuvo con su hijo alto, Piotr. Nos trajeron obsequios de chocolate, un CD de Navidad, una galleta de Navidad y su Wiśniówka casera. Hacen una excelente versión de cereza a partir de cerezas en sus árboles en el patio trasero. Lo tuve hace unos años cuando mi sobrino Jeff y su esposa nos visitaron. También les gustó mucho. Los conozco desde hace más de diez años y son parte de nuestro círculo de amigos. Joanna es oftalmóloga. Dependiendo del virus. su hijo se irá a Inglaterra a finales de mes para comenzar su segundo semestre en la universidad. Hasta ahora, ha estado asistiendo a clases en línea.

Algo nuevo para la cena, pollo hawaiano, papas hervidas y ensalada de kiwi. Tuve que marinar el pollo durante 4 horas, así que hice la ensalada durante ese tiempo. A Joan le gustó la muestra que le di para probar. Tenía un sabor un poco amargo, así que agregué un poco más de miel a la salsa.

Leí que el gobierno local sigue adelante con los planes para renovar el antiguo Rynek. El problema es la irregularidad del suelo de adoquines. Puede comenzar en verano. y estoy seguro de que afectará a los negocios allí. Por supuesto, todo depende de que el coronavirus esté controlado para entonces.
