Changes not appreciated.

I am all for improving the city and the image it portrays but sometimes I don't know what the city council or the President of Poznań can be thinking in some of it's decisions. Today is a perfect example in our favorite place, the rynek. Any reader of the blog knows that in spring, summer and autumn we frequently go to the rynek for coffee and to watch people. On the days when it is windy or raining we stop in an outside cafe that has protective plastic sides to hide from the rain or wind. Now, for some unknown reason to me, the city leaders to stop allowing those protective shields for customers. Not only that, they also decided that ALL cafes have to look the same and only large umbrellas can be used for rain or sun protection. The reason for that was too many umbrellas had advertising on them. This seems very stupid to me. Who wants to sit in an outside cafe when it is raining and there is no protection from the rain?

The city hired a new city architecture and his brilliant idea is that all light posts pointed green, and all are, should now be painted gray. We've lived here long enough now to remember when almost everything was gray from the "old days" and the change to different colors was a welcomed change. Also, the newly elected President who pledged to save money for the city is now spending 60,000 zl for new office furniture because he doesn't like the old furniture. Yes, that is a great saving of the taxpayers money!!

On the way to the rynek I took some photos of the colors of Spring. In the rynek we saw these two "bikers" walk by and couldn't help but smile. It was an old familiar emblem on the back of the jackets but these two were from Sweden......Hells Angels.
