When Joan and I lived in Michigan we organized a monthly clean-up of trails in a local park. It's good to know that it happens here in Poland also.
Thousands of volunteers are traversing some 200 walking trails of Poland's highest mountain range, armed with rubber gloves and trash bags. Each year, tourists leave behind hundreds of kilograms of litter. The Clean Tatra campaign also aims to educate people about the national park’s history and to promote keeping it clean and staying safe in the mountains. The two-day drive ends today.
Kiedy Joan i ja mieszkaliśmy w Michigan, organizowaliśmy comiesięczne sprzątanie ścieżek w miejscowym parku. Dobrze jest wiedzieć, że dzieje się to tu w Polsce również.
Tysiące wolontariuszy, uzbrojonych w gumowe rękawice i worki na śmieci, przemierza około 200 szlaków pieszych najwyższych gór Polski. Każdego roku turyści pozostawiają setki kilogramów śmieci. Celem Kampanii Czyste Tatry jest również edukowanie ludzi na temat historii parku narodowego, promowanie utrzymania go w czystości i zachowania bezpieczeństwa w górach. Trwa dwa dni, kończy się dzisiaj.

but great to know that there are always other humans that care--
the hope is that someday, we ALL might!
I "did my bit" up there, last year, on the LONNNNNNG trail to and
from the spectacular Morskie Oko. Not much trash, but enough to
keep me busy. Humans...never cease to amaze--good or badly...one lady was hiking
ahead of me...on crutches! Yet another lady, was hiking ahead of me
in those large platform shoes!! Go figure....
