Good day!

It was a great day to be outside so Joan and I did just that. We started off with coffee on PlacWolnosci, talking for almost two hours. Not many people were there for a Saturday but this time of year, when most of the university students return to their homes in other cities, it's not unexpected. The streets were fairly empty of cars and so were the outside restaurants. A tourist bus passed by with only 2 people on it. This pandemic has certainly taken a toll on the tourist industry, not only in Poland.

After coffee, we went to Solacki park and sat in front of the play area for the children. It's always enjoyable to see them on the web-like structure to the slide, using the teeter-totter or just running around while the parents observe them. Even little 3-year-old children can use the play area. Some parents are very observant but some had their faces on their cell phones much of the time. We saw one girl in the park who could only walk while constantly texting. What's the point of going to a park to just text? She didn't look up one time the whole time we observed her.

For dinner, we did something we rarely consider. We stopped at KFC and bought 2 Twisters for dinner and french fries. In my haste to get outside earlier. I didn't take anything out of the freezer to prepare for dinner.

To był wspaniały dzień, aby być na zewnątrz, więc Joan i ja właśnie tak zrobiliśmy. Zaczęłyśmy od kawy na Placu Wolności, rozmawiając przez prawie dwie godziny. Nie było tam zbyt wiele ludzi jak na sobotę, ale o tej porze roku, kiedy większość studentów wraca do swoich domów w innych miastach, nie jest to niespodziewane. Na ulicach nie było dużo samochodów, podobnie jak w kawiarniach na zewnątrz budynków. W autobusie turystycznym, który przejeżdżał były tylko 2 osoby. Pandemia z pewnością odbiła się na przemyśle turystycznym, nie tylko w Polsce.

Po kawie poszliśmy do parku Sołackiego i usiedliśmy przed placem zabaw dla dzieci. Zawsze miło jest patrzeć, jak dzieci wspinają się po pajęczej konstrukcji na zjeżdżalnię, korzystają z teeter-totter lub po prostu biegają, podczas gdy rodzice je obserwują. Nawet małe, 3-letnie dzieci mogą korzystać z placu zabaw. Niektórzy rodzice są bardzo uważni, ale niektórzy mają twarz skierowaną w telefon komórkowy przez większość czasu. Widzieliśmy jedną dziewczynę w parku, która mogła chodzić tylko podczas ciągłego pisania SMS-ów. Jaki jest sens iść do parku, aby tylko pisać sms? Przez cały czas, kiedy ją obserwowaliśmy, ani razu nie spojrzała w górę.

Na kolację zrobiliśmy coś, co rzadko bierzemy pod uwagę. Zatrzymaliśmy się w KFC i kupiliśmy 2 Twistery na kolację i frytki. W pośpiechu, aby wyjść wcześnie na zewnątrz nie wyjąłem nic z zamrażarki, żeby przygotować kolację.

Hacía un día estupendo para estar al aire libre, así que Joan y yo lo hicimos. Empezamos con un café en PlacWolnosci, hablando durante casi dos horas. No había mucha gente para ser un sábado, pero en esta época del año, cuando la mayoría de los estudiantes universitarios vuelven a sus casas en otras ciudades, no es algo inesperado. Las calles estaban bastante vacías de coches y también los restaurantes exteriores. Pasó un autobús de turistas con sólo dos personas. Sin duda, esta pandemia ha hecho mella en el sector turístico, no sólo en Polonia.

Después del café, fuimos al parque Solacki y nos sentamos frente a la zona de juegos para los niños. Siempre es agradable verlos subir a la estructura en forma de telaraña del tobogán, usar el balancín o simplemente corretear mientras los padres los observan. Incluso los niños pequeños de 3 años pueden utilizar la zona de juegos. Algunos padres son muy observadores, pero otros tienen la cara puesta en el móvil la mayor parte del tiempo. Vimos a una niña en el parque que sólo podía caminar mientras enviaba mensajes de texto constantemente. ¿Qué sentido tiene ir a un parque para limitarse a enviar mensajes de texto? No levantó la vista ni una sola vez en todo el tiempo que la observamos.

Para la cena, hicimos algo que rara vez consideramos. Paramos en KFC y compramos 2 Twisters para cenar y patatas fritas. En mi prisa por salir antes. no saqué nada del congelador para preparar la cena.
