Thursday's adventures.

Started out gray and foggy this morning but the sun came through in the afternoon to make it a pleasant day. We still have a little snow on the ground but it will fade away soon I think.

It seems there is always one trauma in the world that replaces, well, not replaces but takes on the most news coverage as in the case of the Jordanian pilot. Very little is said now about Ukraine and what is happening there. Fortunately, we do have a channel from Ukraine so we know what is going on and it is only getting worse. I don't understand why the "great powers" of the world do not put a stop to it. If Putin succeeds in Ukraine it will only be the beginning. They talk about giving aid but what Ukraine needs are weapons to defend themselves against Russia. Don't the world leaders see what a threat Russia is to Europe. OK, enough about that, this blog wasn't meant to be a political forum.

Today we did our normal weekly shopping, spending 112 zl for the week and that included a few things like paper towels, napkins, things we don't buy every week. It takes us less than an hour to do our shopping because we know where everything is that we want and we don't have to search for items.  However, it seems like every eight or nine months stores like to rearrange the shelves and then we have to get use to new locations of items. There must be a reason for that but it is beyond our understanding.

We also had to go to our bank because they are changing credit cards and we needed to sign some papers. We met with Piotr, our banker, to do that and it's always a pleasure to see him. We've known him for seven years now and our conversation is not all about banking things. Today he told us he was going to Paris because he found a round trip ticket for only 65 zl so he bought it. Even if he is unable to go on the date he said he will only lose 65 zl.  That is quite a savings. The plane company is WizzAir.  He also told us about a TV series he liked, True Detective, and we will watch it tonight.

Spotkaliśmy się z Piotrem, naszego bankiera, aby to zrobić i to zawsze przyjemność go zobaczyć. Powiedział nam o serialu lubił, Detektyw, a my obejrzeć dziś wieczorem.

*** I noticed that too, in Chicago
stores-- enough to finally stop and ask an employee; he was forthright and said, yes, it's done for the reason of increasing customer purchases (while it does seem counterintuitive-- that it would aggravate people so much they would buy less, apparently, consumer psychology indicates that it actually encourages people to buy more-- I guess, while we're going around in circles searching, the odds of picking up more groceries increases--so, ;~) or ;~( depending the (ad)vantagepoint!
