Joan made a new dessert called date-nut bars. It is a combination of dates, walnuts, flour, sugar, raisins, butter and a few other things. She saw a recipe for it in one of her cookbooks and thought she would try it. It's very good.

Another Saturday means more protests against the new Polish government. I saw videos of the protest on a German television channel, DW.  Tomorrow is going to be a very interesting day because each year at this time there is the biggest charity drive held all over Poland to help young children. Thousands of volunteers stand on street corners or walk the streets with donation cans. The government, I have heard, said that any police or military personnel who volunteer to help will be forced to resign their position the next day. I don't know the reason for that.thinking. Maybe because now, each month on the 10th, there is a military memorial for the victims of the Smolensk tragedy when 95 of the top officials including the President died in a plane crash. The presidents brother, Jarosław Kaczyński, and leader of the PiS party that controls Poland now has done his best to keep the tragedy alive blaming Russia for it.

During the night it continued raining so most of the snow was gone when I woke up. It was a rare, sunny day and that also helped to get rid of snow.

Joanna wykonane nowe deser o nazwie data-orzechowe bary. Jest to połączenie dat, orzechy włoskie, mąki, cukru, rodzynek, masła i kilka innych rzeczy. Widziała przepis na nią w jednej ze swoich książek kucharskich i myślał, że go spróbować. Jest bardzo dobry.
Kolejna sobota oznacza kolejne protesty przeciwko nowego polskiego rządu. Widziałem filmy z protestu w niemieckiej telewizji, DW. Jutro będzie bardzo ciekawy dzień, ponieważ każdego roku w tym czasie znajduje się największy charytatywny jazdy w całej Polsce odbywają się pomóc młodym dzieci. Tysiące wolontariuszy stoją na rogach ulic lub chodzić po ulicach z puszkami dawstwa. Rząd, słyszałem, że wszelkie policyjnych lub wojskowych, którzy poświęcają pomoc będzie zmuszony do rezygnacji swoją pozycję na następny dzień. Nie znam przyczyny that.thinking. Może dlatego, że teraz, w każdym miesiącu na 10, znajduje się pomnik wojskowy dla ofiar tragedii smoleńskiej, gdy 95 z najwyższych urzędników, w tym prezydenta zginął w katastrofie lotniczej. Brat prezydenci, Jarosław Kaczyński, lider PiS, który kontroluje teraz Polska zrobiła w jego mocy, aby utrzymać przy życiu tragedię obwinianie Rosji za nim.
W nocy nadal pada deszcz, więc większość śniegu zniknęła kiedy się obudziłem. To był rzadki, słoneczny dzień, a także pomógł pozbyć się śniegu.

Yesterday we left home about 12:30 to do shopping and it was snowing. First we went to Carrefour to buy one item for the evening meal of żurek and then on to Bistry. It's been three weeks since we were there due to the holidays and were surprised to find the store was empty and closed. I asked a lady what happened to it and she told me it had moved to a better location in the outside shopping center, right next to the parking area. We found it and inside everything was new including the sales people. It was still the same with one exception, they don't have as many types of kiełbasa as before. Now they only have 5 plus my favorite kabanosa. Kabanosa is essential for the żurek that Joan makes.

From there we drove across town to Galeria Malta to buy brown sugar from Marks and Spencer because Joan does not like the brown sugar in the stores we normally shop like Carrefour, Real or Piotr & PaweL We also checked out a few stores for a long winter coat for Joan but couldn't find one. Maybe it's too late for that. I took my camera to take pictures of the Christmas decorations Too late again because they are all gone now.

On the way home it started raining and kept raining after we got home. I received a call from the place where our wrecked car is and they told me they would buy my car for 3,000 zl if I agreed. I did and will go there Monday to sign the papers releasing it. That is one less problem to deal with because our insurance company, PZU, tried to sell it in an auction buy there were no buyers so it was up to us to sell it. I was going to start dealing with that on Monday and now I don't have to.

Wczoraj wyszedł z domu o 12:30 na zakupy i padał śnieg. Najpierw udaliśmy się do Carrefour kupić jedną pozycję na wieczorny posiłek z żurek, a następnie do Bistry. Minęły trzy tygodnie, ponieważ byliśmy tam ze względu na wakacje i byliśmy zaskoczeni sklep był pusty i zamknięty. Poprosiłem panią, co się z nim stało, a ona powiedziała mi, że przeniósł się do lepszej lokalizacji na zewnątrz centrum handlowego, tuż obok parkingu. Znaleźliśmy go i wewnątrz wszystko było nowe w tym sprzedawców. To był wciąż ten sam, z jednym wyjątkiem, nie mają tak wiele rodzajów kiełbasy, jak wcześniej. Teraz mają tylko 5 oraz mój ulubiony kabanosa. Kabanosa jest niezbędne dla żurek, że Joan czyni.
