Helenka was honored by hundreds visitors on Monday. People of all persuasions, nationalities, friends, relatives, coworkers, and acquaintances paid their last respects. She was so loved and respected by all who knew her. Thank you all for your kindest thoughts, memories, and wishes. Natalia (her daughter) and I are missing her voice, her smile, and her presence. She was and is always in our hearts. In 2007 she became an American citizen (retaining her Polish citizenship) to be able to vote for our daughter Natalia for Pittsburgh City Council, but received the oath one day after the election (Natalia won!). Her love of all people, especially children, truly shown through her beautiful smile and actions.
