Shopping and party.

Shopping day as usual, this time 132zl for the week. It sounds like a lot but when you convert it to the U.S. dollar it's $36 dollars for a week of food. Yes, we pay extravagant prices for gasoline here in Poland but food is still relatively cheap. Of course, medicines are also very cheap so it makes up for gasoline prices. The cost of seeing a movie is about the same but we rarely go to see one. Our most usual form of entertainment is sitting in the rynek drinking coffee and watching the tourists and children. The children are the best. I know, statistically, Poland's population is declining because of young people having to leave to find work and they say not enough new babies are being born but we see a lot of them. Yesterday I went into Bistry to buy kiełbasa and a little girl about 5 years old saw me get into the line. She couldn't take her eyes off of me and kept peeking at me from behind her mother. I raised my eyebrows up and down and smiled at her. She looked again and did the same. As her mother was paying the bill she smiled at me again and when they were leaving she waved her hand goodbye, smiled and raised her eyebrows. It was so cute.

As I am a planner, the party on October 3rd is planned and I have invited 17 people, 12 of who have confirmed they will be here, so far. The message only went out today so I think the other 5 will also confirm in the next week. It's our second party this year and the reason is my nephew and his wife will be here and I would like them to meet some people we know. 5 of the people we met in the last year and like them enough to invite them and have a chance to know them better. All of them have different interests, jobs and it makes a party more interesting. Unfortunately, Zbyszek will be out of town on the party date so he won't be here.

 Dzisiaj, jak zwykle, dzień  na zakupy, tym razem 132zł na cały tydzień. To wydaje się dużo, ale gdy je zamienić na dolary, to 36 dolarów za żywność na tydzień. Tak, tutaj, w Polsce płacimy ekstrawaganckie ceny benzyny, ale jedzenie jest nadal stosunkowo tanie. Oczywiście, leki są bardzo tanie, więc rekompensują cenę benzyny. Koszt oglądania filmu  jest taki sam, ale rzadko chodzimy do kina, aby jakiś zobaczyć. Naszą najbardziej zwykłą formą rozrywki jest siedzenie na  Rynku,  picie kawy i oglądanie turystów i dzieci. Dzieci są najlepsze. Wiem, statystycznie liczba ludności Polski zmniejsza się ze względu na młodych ludzi mających wyjechać w poszukiwaniu pracy i mówi się, że nie wystarczająco rodzi się nowych dzieci, ale my widzimy ich wiele. Wczoraj poszedłem do Bistry kupić kiełbasę i dziewczynka około 5 lat zobaczyła mnie stojącego w kolejce. Nie mogła ode mnie oderwać oczu  i zerkała na mnie zza pleców matki. Uniosłem brwi w górę i w dół i uśmiechnąłem się do niej. Ona znów spojrzała i zrobiła to samo. Kiedy jej  matka płaciła rachunek, uśmiechnęła się do mnie ponownie, a gdy odchodziły,  machnęła ręką na pożegnanie, uśmiechnęła się i uniosła brwi. To było takie słodkie.

Ponieważ jestem planistą, przyjęcie 3 października jest zaplanowane i zaprosiłem 17 osób; do tej pory 12. z nich potwierdziło, że będzie. Komunikat  wyszedł dziś,  więc myślę, że pozostałe 5.  potwierdzi w przyszłym tygodniu. To nasza druga impreza w tym roku, a powodem jest mój bratanek i jego żona, którzy tutaj będą i chciałbym, żeby spotkali  ludzi, których znamy. Z pięciorgiem z tych osób spotkaliśmy się w zeszłym roku i lubimy ich na tyle, aby ich zaprosić i mieć szansę poznać ich lepiej. Wszyscy z nich mają różne zainteresowania, pracę, a to sprawia, że przyjęcie będzie bardziej interesujące. Niestety, Zbyszka nie  będzie w mieście w dniu przyjęcia, więc go nie będzie.
