Bath.

 Roman Baths
Bath Abbey

Today I wrote to Renata and thanked her for her formula for making GREAT pickles in brine. They were as good as the ones we had in Koazalin a few months ago and next year, when it is time, Joan will make them. One of the benefits of having a good circle of friends is that you can get recipes you can't find on the internet. We also got a message from Tony who said he would pick us up at the airport in Bristol. England next Wednesday when we arrive. He said he and his wife would take us to visit the town of Bath. Archaeological evidence shows that the site of the Roman Baths' main spring may have been treated as a shrine by the Britons, and was dedicated to the goddess  Sulis, whom the Romans identified with Minerva; the name Sulis continued to be used after the Roman invasion. A temple was constructed in 60–70 AD, and a bathing complex was built up over the next 300 years. In March 2012 a hoard of 30,000 silver Roman coins, one of the largest discovered in Britain, was unearthed in an archaeological dig. The coins, believed to date from the 3rd century, were found about 450 feet from the Roman baths. We've heard about this place from different people and think it would be a good place to see. This is another reason why I have to get a new camera soon. There are so many interesting places to see so I would like to share them with you, just in case you don't have the opportunity to see them yourself.

Joan is in the kitchen now preparing to take us back to Budapest via Hungarian cuisine. In this case, chicken paprakas is the vehicle. We didn't eat it in Buda this time but her recipe was from the Hungarian girl we stayed with on our first trip there. Kata was happy to pass on her family recipe to Joan for our use.  Zbyszek has never been there so we thinking that maybe next year we'll go together. She's also studying her Spanish while cooking by listening to the DVD's we have and repeating what is said. Usually she does that when cleaning, cooking or doing other things and then later, after I'm done with my Polish, we'll repeat the Spanish lesson together.

The weather is a typical day for this time of year, gray, cloudy and about 11c. I'm just grateful that we had sunny days when Dan and Mirka were here.

By艂y one tak dobre, jak te, kt贸re jedli艣my w Koszalinie kilka miesi臋cy temu i w nast臋pnym roku, kiedy b臋dzie w艂a艣ciwy moment, Joan je zrobi. Powiedzia艂, 偶e wraz z 偶on膮 zabior膮 nas do miasta Bath, aby je zwiedzi膰. Archeologiczne dowody wskazuj膮, 偶e  miejsce g艂贸wnego 藕r贸d艂a rzymskich 艂a藕ni mog艂o by膰 traktowane przez Brytyjczyk贸w jako sanktuarium, a po艣wi臋cone by艂o bogini Sulis, kt贸r膮 Rzymianie identyfikowali z Minerw膮; nazwa Sulis nadal by艂a u偶ywana po rzymskiej inwazji. 艢wi膮tynia zosta艂a zbudowana w 60-70 pne, a kompleks 艂a藕ni rzymskich zosta艂 zbudowany w ci膮gu kolejnych 300 lat. W marcu 2012 w miejscu wykopalisk archeologicznych , odkopano skarb 30.000 srebrnych rzymskich monet - jeden z najwi臋kszych w Wielkiej Brytanii. S艂yszeli艣my o tym miejscu od r贸偶nych ludzi i my艣l臋, 偶e b臋dzie to dobre miejsce, aby je zobaczy膰. Jest to te偶 kolejny pow贸d, by wkr贸tce pozyska膰 nowy aparat fotograficzny.

Tym razem nie jedli艣my tego w Budapeszcie, ale  przepis pochodzi od w臋gierskiej dziewczyny u kt贸rej zatrzymali艣my si臋 podczas naszego pierwszego tam wyjazdu. Kata by艂 zadowolona, 偶e mog艂a Joan przekaza膰  rodzinny przepis  na nasz u偶ytek. Zbyszek nigdy  nie by艂 na W臋grzech, wi臋c my艣limy, 偶e by膰 mo偶e w przysz艂ym roku pojedziemy tam razem.

Jestem wdzi臋czny, 偶e mieli艣my s艂oneczne dni, kiedy Dan i Mirka tutaj byli.
