Coming home.

So, our trip back home began at 9:00 after breakfast when Marta and Stefan took us to the train station in Dulmen. As the day began normally gray it changed to a sunny day as we reached Dortmund, our first stop. Along the way I took a series of photos of the countryside that I have posted today. At this moment we are half way to Berlin so our return is only half complete.

What can I say about this Christmas spent in Germany? For sure it was very different as far as traditional Polish Christmas eve. Eating meat was probably the biggest difference for me as it is not part of the Polish custom. Not having any snow was normal in these days of global warming and not really any surprise. Meeting the family of Stefan was very nice and it was good to be able to talk with the young ones in English and get their young points of view of their lives and where they might be headed. Maybe what surprised me the most was how tall they were already at such young age of 16 and 18. Meeting Conny and V.olker was very nice and we enjoyed their company for a day before they left for their own home not far from where Marta lives.

Munster was very nice to visit but probably better to see when it is full of tourists and the holiday lights are turned on. Of course, without the tourist's it was easy to visit the old church and walk around without a crowd of people. We are already thinking about next Christmas, maybe in Spain or where there is snow.

We arrived back home at 17:30 from Berlin after taking numerous pictures of the countryside traveling through Germany and then Berlin. I deleted a lot of them because I'm not quite up to speed on taking pictures while on the move and they turned out blurry. I will have to watch that video again to fix that mistake. It's always good to be back home and hearing the Polish language being spoken by everyone, at least I can understand a lot of it. Of course, there are slideshows of our trip on the right hand side of this blog and I hope Volker, Alina and Chantal will become readers of the blog and comment to me.
