The ruins of the church are located in the former village of Chojnice and now a military training ground in Biedrusko. Once a lively village, a parish of several nearby villages such as Biedrusko or Suchy Las, today the ruins of the church are in the center of the military training ground without any trace of any other buildings and a few cemeteries forgotten in the forest.
The exact date is not known of the erection of the parish in Chojnica. Church documents show that this took place at the turn of the 11th-12th centuries.
At the beginning, Chojnica was the center of several smaller estates related by neighborhood, the so-called opole center (opole - an opolna organization, in the twelfth-thirteenth century settlement unit of western Slavs) and had its parish church p.w. St. John the Baptist (X-XI century) - this church is mentioned in the sources before 1374 and it may have existed already in the 11th century.

WHAT an adventurous day (both good and not so; though it was a reminder that
life can and does go on when the 'smartphones' aren't around). I recall the
time I lived in AZ and had an old Toyota pick up. I had been warned about not
having a phone BEFORE it decided to konk out at a crossroad. I survivied.
Let RedRox rest a good while, gave her another crank and she turned over, as
reliably as ever. While waiting, I said a prayer, sort of 'demanding' that I
need some mulla that I was sorely in need of (couldn't imagine how I would've
done it IF I had needed a tow down the road). When I got to the gas station,
I used my last $10 for $9 to top off the tank, and decided to further my risk
by buying a $1 lotto. Those angels up there had heard me-- I won $100 buckeroos
on it!! Moral of story: Life AND miracles happen-- even without a cellphone ;~}
Forgot to mention that old, old church site....
it looks like it could be in a film of St. Francis or something!
Really...it's so simple, natural, haunting, yet invites you in...
very lovely spot. Worth going on your little adventure and finding it!
