Pola

Today was the day we were to go with friends to an American Thanksgiving dinner but Joan is still not feeling 100% so we decided not to go. She is not so ill that she needs a doctor but still has a sore throat so she didn't want to walk in the cold to make it worse.
But our day was brightened by a visit from cousin Pola Kielar. She is always of high energy and it is nice to talk with her. She is a bright young woman who was trained to work with handicapped children and it is always refreshing to listen to her passion for children. We talked about different subjects; how we could improve our Polish language skills, that her sister Magda had returned to Poland some 3 weeks ago, that I am writing emails in Polish to cousin Andrzej Juszczak in Golina and he corrects my grammar and sends them back to me, that Andrzej and I talk on Instant Messenger and he corrects my Polish mistakes, her search for a job and how her parents are doing. It is always interesting to me, the difference between European women and American women at early ages.
Cousin Krzysztof Kupiński continues to improve his genealogical website with an English version and I am happy to help him. At present we both have family websites but maybe there is a possibility of combining the two into one. Since moving to Poland, I am more active on this blog and my family website is not visited as much as the blog.

Kuzyna Krzysztof Kupiński nadal ulepsza jego genealogiczną witrynę sieci z angielską wersją i jestem szczęśliwy by pomóc mu.

  1. Dear Joan and David,

I am sorry you did not go to Thanksgiving dinner today. I do understand how Joan must feel.
There are few things she can try and see if they help:

    1. Gurgle with salt warm water

    2. Do inhalations with Amol - it has all kind of herbal medicines in it - follow directions on the the bottle. You can buy Amol in pharmacy store.

    3. Try my mom's old remedy - bring to boil cup of milk, add tablespoon of butter, 2 tablespoons of honey and finely minced 3 cloves of garlic, bring again to boil and drink as hot as you can stand. Cover your self with blanket and take a rest after you drink the concoction. At least it always help me when I had the sore throat. It taste not to great but seems to help a lot.

I hope that Joan will be feeling better soon and you can enjoy all your activities again.

    Best wishes,

    Anna

    Joan...hope you are feeling better.
I like your warm hat, but I know how you feel about the flat hair.
When Larry and I rode a motorcycle..I felt the same about the helmet.
I wish you both a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
    Hugs,
