Goodbye.

At my age, the death of people with similar years is not so shocking but some sadden me more. Such is the case when I read Leon Russell had died. He wasn't a huge star like the Beatles, Clapton, Elton John and others but his style of music was unique and I always liked him. I suppose if you had to categorize his music, southern rock would be the label given.

Finally our friend from Bydgoszcz returned home from her travels so the Polish translations of this blog will be accurate again. We talked this morning via Skype on various topics and are resuming our frequent conversations to improve learning each others language.

With Joan resuming her learning of Spanish, I find it interesting that her memory can recall whole sentences in Spanish but in our 3 times a day exercises of 7 new words she can\t remember all of them. Morning, afternoon and evening, I give tell her 7 words and she has 1 minute to repeat as many as she can remember. She averages between 4 to 5 remembered, depending on the time of day.

The latest news here is that the government is exhuming all of the bodies of the Smolensk plane crash that happened 10 years ago in order to determine the exact cause of death. This was the crash in which the President, his wife and more than 90 other top officials died in when they flew there to commemorate the massacre in Katyn forest.  Not all families of the victims agree with this but they have no choice. This should have been done years ago because some of the bodies in the coffins were not who they were said to be so there was already a question then.

W moim wieku, śmierć ludzi o podobnych lat nie jest tak szokujące, ale niektóre zasmucają mnie więcej. Tak jest w przypadku, gdy czytam Leon Russell zmarł. Nie był wielką gwiazdą jak Beatlesi, Clapton, Elton John i inni, ale jego styl muzyki był wyjątkowy i zawsze lubiłem go. Przypuszczam, że jeśli trzeba było sklasyfikować jego muzykę, Southern Rock byłaby etykieta podana.

W końcu nasza przyjaciółka z Bydgoszczy wróciła z podróży do domu, tak że polskie przekłady tego bloga będą ponownie dokładniejsze. Dziś rano rozmawialiśmy przez Skype na różne tematy i wznawiamy nasze częste rozmowy w celu poprawienia znajomości języka każdego z nas.
Wznawiając z Joan naukę hiszpańskiego, uważam za  ciekawe to, że jej pamięć przywołuje całe zdania w języku hiszpańskim, ale w naszych 3. razy dziennie wykonywanych ćwiczeniach zapamiętani a 7. nowych słów, nie potrafi  wszystkich zapamiętać. Rano, po południu i wieczorem, daję jej 7 słów do powiedzenia, a ona ma 1 minutę na powtórzenie tylu, ile  może zapamiętać. W zależności od pory dnia  pamięta średnio od 4 do 5 z nich.

Najnowszą wiadomością jest to, że rząd ekshumuje wszystkie ciała ofiar katastrofy smoleńskiej, która wydarzyła się 10 lat temu w celu ustalenia dokładnej przyczyny zgonu. To była katastrofa, w której zginął prezydent, jego żona i ponad 90. innych wysokich urzędników , kiedy lecieli do Smoleńska w celu upamiętnienia masakry w Lesie Katyńskim. Nie wszystkie rodziny ofiar na to się zgadzają, ale nie mają wyboru. Powinno to być zrobione lata temu, ponieważ niektóre z ciał w trumnach nie były tymi, o których się mówiło, że są, więc to pytanie już wtedy padło.
