Polish Origins

One of the things I like about social media is you can develop a relationship with someone you have never actually met in person. Such is the case between Zenon Zamerowski and myself. Shortly after we first arrived in Poland I met online with him. Over these last years, we have kept in occasional contact. Zenon and his wife started a genealogy research company to help people search for their roots in Poland. It was so successful that he added tours for people who wanted to come to Poland to see the places where their relatives and to meet some.

Like me, he had people asking about moving to Poland. Recently he wanted to add a page to his online newsletter about that. "The number of inquiries about obtaining Polish citizenship has risen dramatically in recent months. It may be a result of the genealogy research services we started to provide this March, but we are not sure if it is the only reason for the increased interest".

Knowing Joan and I have experienced that, he asked if I would write something about our blog and I readily agreed.

"You may have heard of people who decided to move to Poland, for example, from the US. One of such examples is David Piekarczyk and his wife Joan. For more than 13 years now they have been living in Poznan, western Poland. David, although a direct descendant of Poles, is not a Polish citizen yet. He and his wife have a permanent residence permit to live in Poland. David shares his experience, impressions as well as opinions on his blog David Blog Poland".

Next year, providing this virus is under control, I think it is time to make a trip to meet him.

  1. David and Joan,

We cordially invite you to visit us in the Low Beskid Mountains (Beskid Niski)! We are located between two spa resorts so beside nature here are also plenty of spa and health facilities to use.

  2. Thank you, Zen. I happily accept your invitation, probably in October of next year, depending on the virus situation. Which part are you located in, northeast of Bukowski Foothills, west of Sądecka Basin, southwest of Beskid Sadecki, or north of the Foothills Środkowobeskidzkim?

If Biden is elected president the left or socialist will dictate the law. A lot of people of Polish descent are concerned and want to leave the US. Most of my relatives have a dual citizenship and are considering moving to Poland.

  4. Anonymous. that's good. That will raise the population of Poland. However, I don't see the difference. PiS dictates the law in Poland as exemplified in the new abortion law. Everyone is really happy about that?

If they are so happy, why are they protesting and shutting down the businesses. Poland’s issues were not mentioned in the newspapers or media, now there are featured articles and support for the women in the media.
If you don’t see the difference, why do you complain so much about the government and the system?

  6. Anonymous, what newspapers and media are YOU looking at? What country do you live in? What difference are you referring to? What makes you think women are happy about the new law?

    David,
The other day, I received a Polish Origins email in which Zenon had referred to you (and as you informed your blog readers of)....
I then went on to read what you provided him and commend you on your exposition.
Also, it was very good research 'Zen's] team did via your blog for presenting those specific topic entries on their own website, in addressing folks who want to learn the process and procedures (and efforts!)it takes, to relocate themselves to Poland.
